PS5 Prices Are Going Up Again Next Week, Here’s What to Expect

PlayStation 5 prices are going up again. Last year, consoles generally became more expensive, including all three versions of the PS5. While rumors have been circulating, Sony has now officially announced that the price of each PS5 model will increase starting April 2nd. If you’re hoping to buy a PS5, you only have a few days left to get it at the current price in many areas.

PlayStation prices increased again recently. Back in August 2025, the PS5, PS5 Digital Edition, and PS5 Pro each saw about a $50 price hike. Now, a new announcement confirms further increases: the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition will each cost $100 more, while the PS5 Pro will jump by around $150 compared to its August 2025 price.

PS5, PS5 Pro, And PSP Getting Major Price Increases This April

PlayStation recently announced it’s raising the price of the PS5 due to ongoing economic challenges worldwide. The company says this price increase is needed to keep delivering new and high-quality games. They’ve also shared the new recommended retail prices for all PS5 consoles, including the PlayStation Portal remote player.

Prices increased by around $50 last August, but this time the increase is closer to $100 or more for most items. These new prices, listed on our blog, apply to customers in the U.S., U.K., Europe, and Japan. Customers in other regions might also see price changes and should check with their local retailer for the most up-to-date information. U.S. customers can expect these price changes to take effect starting April 2nd.

  • PS5: $649.99 (up from $549.99)
  • PS5 Digital Edition: $599.99 (up from $499.99)
  • PS5 Pro: $899.99 (up from $749.99)
  • PlayStation Portal: $249.99 (up from $199.00)

To find the new prices in other regions, please visit the official PlayStation blog or reach out to your local retailer.

Okay, so the price of PS5s is going up, which isn’t totally unexpected with everything going on in the economy and those parts shortages. Still, it’s a bummer! The good news is the price increase doesn’t kick in until April 2nd, so if I’m quick, I might still be able to snag one at the current price before it jumps up around $100. Better hurry!

PlayStation hasn’t been alone in raising prices. Both the original Nintendo Switch and the current Xbox consoles also became more expensive in 2025. We might see further price increases from these companies soon, but for now, the prices of the Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch haven’t changed.
