Great heroes need great villains, and some of the most famous pairings – like Batman and the Joker, or Optimus Prime and Megatron – prove that villains are just as crucial to a story. A new game lets you step into the role of one of several unique villains, build your own evil headquarters, and even defend it with friends – up to four of you can team up for an epic showdown!
The new game, Dreadquarters, is developed by Headlock Games. In it, players choose from a variety of unique villains, each with their own distinct gameplay and visual style. The goal is to build and protect your lair while carrying out an evil scheme, all while fending off heroes trying to stop you. Up to four players can play together and enjoy the villainous action.

Dreadquarters Lets You Build An Evil Lair Worthy Of The Ultimate Villain

Ever watched Super Friends and dreamed of building your own secret villain hideout? Well, now you can – in the board game Dreadquarters! You’ll work together with other players, each taking on the role of a villain, to construct and expand your lair. Add strange rooms, powerful upgrades, and strong defenses, then deploy your minions to various tasks like working at stations, raiding cities, or making a final stand.
The moment the heroes reach your hideout, the ultimate battle begins! Everything you’ve planned will either succeed spectacularly or fall apart. Because each hideout is unique, with different villains, cities, and challenges, you can always start fresh with a new lair if one is defeated, and prove you’re in charge.
So far, the baddies they’ve shown off are pretty cool. There’s The Colony, which is basically an ant army – super creepy! Then there’s The Institute, and they’re giving me serious Frankenstein vibes. And finally, we’ve got The Elementalist, who looks like a really powerful wizard or magic user. I’m excited to see how these guys play out!
The Intelligence is a strong, thinking AI, and The Pack draws inspiration from werewolves and fantasy worlds. Other groups include The Marked, which feels like a medieval world of knights and magic, and The Necromancer, who commands the magic of the undead.
You’ll be able to learn more about the game soon! The Kickstarter campaign for Dreadquarters is launching on April 7, 2026, and you can find it here.
