Elizabeth Olsen, known for playing Scarlet Witch, recently took a picture with a fan cosplaying as Doctor Doom at the C2E2 convention. This happened as rumors continue to swirl about her potential role in a possible Avengers: Doomsday movie, though her involvement hasn’t been officially announced. Olsen last played Wanda Maximoff in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where her character battled Doctor Strange while being negatively affected by a powerful, corrupting book called the Darkhold.
Elizabeth Olsen poses with fan dressed as Doctor Doom
At C2E2, Olsen chatted with two fans after speaking on a panel about her work. One of the fans was dressed as the villain Doctor Doom, and they all took a picture together.
I was so excited to see her standing there with the fan’s Doom mask! And it was amazing that his sister was dressed as Scarlet Witch, even striking her classic spell-casting pose – it really made the whole scene!
During a C2E2 panel, Elizabeth Olsen admitted she was completely in the dark about the Doomsday event and its continuation, Secret Wars. She even questioned whether Secret Wars would be split into two films.
Wanda Maximoff’s last appearance was in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she destroyed the Darkhold and sacrificed herself to end its harmful effects. In doing so, she also destroyed Mount Wundagore. Previously, she had used the mountain to enter the body of her alternate self from another universe to find and capture America Chavez, who had fled there with Doctor Strange, hoping to use Chavez’s abilities to reach a reality where she could be reunited with her children, Tommy and Billy.
Wundagore crumbled during its destruction, appearing to kill Wanda. Marvel officially confirmed her death in the book, The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline.
Even though her future with Marvel is uncertain, Elizabeth Olsen has said she’d like to return as Scarlet Witch. In an interview with The Playlist, she shared how proud she is of Wanda Maximoff’s character development and story. While she wouldn’t confirm if Wanda will appear in any upcoming projects like ‘Doomsday,’ Olsen expressed a strong desire to play the role again. She believes the character’s journey has been fantastic and enjoys revisiting it, though she doesn’t know when or how that might happen.
The new Avengers movie, titled Doomsday, will be released on December 18, 2026. It was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, and the script was written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.
