Three Capcom games that were previously only available on Nintendo consoles are now available on PlayStation for the first time, and players are loving them. They’ve received an average rating of 4.89 out of 5 on the PlayStation Store – which translates to 97.8 out of 100 – based on 151 user reviews. This score includes feedback from both the PS5 and PS4 versions of the games.
Capcom recently released the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection on the PlayStation Store for $40. This collection includes the entire Mega Man Star Force trilogy, originally released for the Nintendo DS between 2006 and 2008. While the collection currently scores between 73 and 76 on Metacritic – a noticeable improvement over the original games’ scores in the 50s and 60s – there’s still a significant difference between how critics and players are receiving it.
Nintendo DS Games
The Mega Man Star Force games are a continuation of the popular Mega Man Battle Network series. This new collection includes all three Star Force games—actually, seven in total, since each game had different versions. While not remade or fully remastered, these games have been improved with visual and audio enhancements. New features include an optional rearranged soundtrack, a gallery of artwork, auto-saving, adjustable difficulty with encounter rates, assist modes, and other quality-of-life improvements. Importantly, the games have been adapted to work on a single screen instead of the original dual-screen format.
Okay, so I’ve been checking out these Nintendo DS games on my PS5, and honestly, $40 for three feels a little steep at first. But wow, there’s so much to play! I’m easily getting 45 to 60 hours of gameplay across all three, and if you’re a completionist like me, you’ll be playing for even longer. Just a heads-up though, don’t expect these to look any better if you’re holding out for the PS5 Pro – these are just the standard versions.
