Starfield PS5 Needs a Serious Chunk of Your Console Storage

If you’re planning to get Starfield on PS5 next week, be aware that it’s a large game and you might need to free up some storage space on your console.

Bethesda’s new role-playing game is quite large and will require a significant amount of storage space. According to PlayStation Game Size, a trusted source for game file sizes, players will need at least 123GB of free space to install it.

So, the file size is pretty much what I expected, about the same as Starfield on PlayStation and Xbox. I was hoping they’d squeezed in some extra optimization for this version, since it feels like a fresh start for the game, but it looks like that didn’t happen.

The game launches on PS5 with a brand-new DLC called Terran Armada, plus a big update that improves how the game plays, adds fresh content, and includes other enhancements.

Okay, so Starfield’s launch back in 2023 wasn’t quite the huge hit everyone expected, honestly. The initial reviews were a little underwhelming, and Bethesda really had to work at it with a bunch of updates to get players like me enjoying the game. It definitely took some time to get it where it needed to be!

The game has improved significantly, and this PS5 version is its best yet, creating a lot of excitement for its release on April 7th. Pre-orders on the PS5 are currently very strong.

Were you surprised by how much storage space Starfield needs on the PS5? Are you planning to free up some space on your console before the game’s pre-load starts next week? Share a picture of your least attractive spaceship in the comments!
