This story contains spoilers from the March 30 episode of Paradise.
Not everyone is making it out of Paradise alive.
The Hulu series shocked viewers in its season two finale on March 30th by seemingly killing off a key character right when the mystery of who Alex really is was about to be solved.
Alex wasn’t a person, but a highly advanced artificial intelligence – a super-computer created by Julianne Nicholson’s character, Sinatra – that ran the doomsday bunker. However, Alex gained too much power after altering reality and causing disruptions in time and space, ultimately requiring it to be deactivated.
When the computers in the Colorado bunker started failing, the residents—including Dr. Torabi, Presley, and James—escaped to safety. This left Sinatra and Xavier to confront each other one last time, before Sinatra chose to stay behind with the super-computer she had built as it shut down.
Sinatra saw Xavier flee the abandoned underground city on the security screens, just before it appeared both Xavier and Alex had been defeated.
And with Xavier safely making it out alive, the Collins family was happily reunited.
Just before her death, Sinatra told Link (Thomas Doherty) she thought he was her long-lost son, Dylan, who everyone believed had died.
She also informed Xavier about a second, hidden bunker beneath the Denver Airport. This one contains another powerful quantum AI super-computer, capable of saving the world and ensuring humanity’s survival.

Viewers will discover the truth about the second underground location in season three – is it an alternate reality, or a new settlement of survivors?
Although the show’s creators haven’t revealed much about the next season, executive producer and writer John Hoberg recently suggested that the third season might be the end of the story.
Hoberg told The Hollywood Reporter that they’ve planned the series’ conclusion, and it’s a definitive ending that would make it challenging to continue with a fourth season.
As for what message he hopes fans take away after the shocking twists in season two’s finale?
As a longtime fan, I’ve been picking up on a really interesting pattern – things are clearly happening simultaneously in two separate storylines. Honestly, it’s got me completely hooked, because I keep wondering if and when those two threads will finally connect. It’s a brilliant tease, and I can’t wait to see what happens!
While fans wait for season three, keep reading to see more shocking TV exits.

In a March 2026 episode, the crime drama said farewell to Director Leon Vance, portrayed by Rocky Carroll, after 18 years with the character. Fans were surprised in 2025 to learn that Mehcad Brooks was leaving the NBC crime show before its 25th season.
Brooks, who joined the show in 2022, portrayed Detective Jalen Shaw for three seasons.

Jenna Lyons has confirmed she won’t be back for season 16 of The Real Housewives of New York City.
I was so excited to see the news confirmed on Instagram! Jenna Lyons, the amazing former Creative Director of J. Crew, announced she’s joining Season 16 of RHONY as a ‘friend of’! Apparently, we all knew she’d be joining, and since her private life isn’t something she wanted to share on camera, they agreed this role made perfect sense. I’m really looking forward to seeing her on the show!
The fashion icon, who started on the Bravo show in 2022 for its fourteenth season, realized she didn’t want to be just a supporting player.
After careful consideration, I’ve decided not to return to the show,” she explained. “I’d be the oldest contestant and the only openly gay woman, and I believe this creates a chance for fresh perspectives and a new energy to be introduced.

He believes taking this time to focus on himself is essential, particularly for the sake of his son, Cruz.

Several cast members from Saturday Night Live recently announced they won’t be back for the show’s 51st season, with the announcements happening close together.
Longfellow and Walker each spent three seasons on SNL while Wakim exited after just one season.

As a huge SNL fan, I was really sad to hear that Gardner and Nwodim won’t be back for season 51. It feels like a big change after so many years with them – eight for Gardner and seven for Nwodim – especially so soon after Longfellow, Walker, and Wakim moved on. It’s the end of an era, honestly.

Sofia Mattsson finished her role on the long-running soap opera in the summer of 2025 after seven years as Sasha Gilmore. Her character moved to Paris as part of the storyline.

Even though fans likely expected Joel Miller, played by Pedro Pascal, to die – his fate in April 2025 mirrored events from The Last of Us Part II, the video game the second season of The Last of Us is based on – the shocking way his character was killed still came as a surprise.
Pascal, known for also being killed off in shows like Game of Thrones and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, wasn’t too upset about his character’s fate. He playfully told Entertainment Weekly, “I get killed a lot. I actually enjoy it!”

Following what he called a “wild adventure,” Peter Krause finished his run as Captain Bobby Nash on the drama 9-1-1 with an episode airing in April 2025.

The decision to kill off a popular, yet troubled, firefighter was definitely controversial, according to showrunner Tim Minear in an interview with Variety. Summer just got a little less fun.
In June 2025, Paige DeSorbo revealed she was leaving the Bravo series after being on the show for seven seasons.
After sharing seven summers with you all, I’m so thankful for the memories, the supportive community, and all the amazing experiences this journey has given me,” the Giggly Squad podcast cohost posted on Instagram. “But, like everything else, it’s time to move on to the next part of my life.”

I was so disappointed to hear that the amazing French actress won’t be back for season five of the show! She confirmed the news back in April 2025, and honestly, it’s going to be really hard to watch without her.

In February 2023, Ellen Pompeo finished her run as the main character, Meredith Grey, on the ABC television drama after 19 seasons.
As someone who believes in constantly evolving and keeping things fresh, I was feeling the need for a change! I shared on The Drew Barrymore Show last year that at 53, my brain needed a little shake-up. You can’t rely on the same old routines forever – even something as mentally stimulating as The New York Times crossword puzzle every day can start to feel… well, scrambled! That’s why I was excited to try something new, and I’ve really enjoyed stepping into different projects, including returning for another appearance on the show and continuing to narrate. It’s all about keeping things interesting and challenging yourself!
But she’s not gone for good. Pompeo still pops in and out of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

Okay, so I was devastated when I heard Madeleine Mantock was leaving Charmed! She was Macy, you know? The oldest sister! It was back in 2021, before season four, and honestly, it felt like a punch to the gut. She put out this statement, saying it was such an amazing opportunity and that she loved everyone she worked with – the producers, writers, the whole cast and crew. It was sweet, but it didn’t make it any easier to accept she wouldn’t be back! I just loved her as Macy.

Elizabeth Keen will never learn the truth about Raymond Reddington. Megan Boone, who played Liz on NBC’s The Blacklist, left the show after season eight, and her character was killed off before she could read a crucial letter revealing everything. Boone described her time on the show as “a dream” in an Instagram post when she announced her departure in 2021.

The second season of Bridgerton didn’t include Rege-Jean Page, who became a fan favorite in the first season of the popular Netflix drama. Fans were disappointed when it was announced he wouldn’t be returning in 2021.
He told Vanity Fair that he simply did the work he’d signed up for, and then took on additional assignments. “That’s all there is to it,” he said. “I wish there was a more exciting story behind it.”

Ruby Rose first appeared as Batwoman (Kate Kane) in a 2018 Arrowverse event and then led the CW’s Batwoman series for one season, becoming the first openly lesbian superhero to star in her own show. Later on in season two, Kate got a bit of a face swap and returned played by Wallis Day.

America Ferrera left the show Superstore after its fifth season in 2020, which meant Cloud 9 lost its manager and the series lost a central character. Because of the pandemic, she made a brief appearance in the first two episodes of season six. When season six was decided to be the show’s last, she returned for the final episode to give her character, Amy, and Jonah (Ben Feldman) a satisfying conclusion to their story.

In the final episode of season four of the Syfy show The Magicians, Jason Ralph’s character, Quentin, successfully rescued Eliot, played by Hale Appleman, but died in the process. Although the show often features characters dying – it is called The Magicians, after all – Ralph didn’t appear in the fifth and final season.

Ahead of the final season, Arrow‘s Emily Bett Rickards announced her exit in a poem of sorts.
Felicity and I are very close, but after the seventh day, we’ll have to say goodbye, she wrote.

Lauren Cohan initially left The Walking Dead in 2018 after difficult contract talks. While she appeared in a few episodes of season nine, her character, Maggie Greene, disappeared after a time jump of six years.
