Charlotte Jørgensen is reflecting on a heartbreaking tragedy.
One week after a plane from Air Canada hit a vehicle at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, a former contestant on Dancing With the Stars shared that she was one of the 72 people on board.
Charlotte shared on Instagram on March 29th that after a great weekend in Montreal, she was on Air Canada flight 8646 heading to LaGuardia Airport in New York City when the plane collided with a firetruck on the runway. She noted that many people were likely already aware of the incident.
On the evening of March 22nd, a plane landed at New York airport, but then collided with another vehicle on the runway. Sadly, this resulted in the deaths of Air Canada pilots Antoine Forest and Mackenzie Gunther, and 41 people were injured. The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the air traffic control issues that led to the crash.
Reflecting on what happened, Charlotte said she was incredibly grateful to the pilots, describing them as “two very brave people.”
She went on to say that they gave their lives so others could live, and she feels deeply grateful to them. Her heart goes out to their families during this difficult time.
Charlotte said the past week has been very difficult for her, both physically and emotionally, following the crash.
The dancer said they need time to recover and expressed gratitude for the support they’ve received, sending a warm thank you to everyone.

The 54-year-old, who finished second on the first season of Dancing with the Stars with John O’Hurley, isn’t the only one praising the pilots’ courage following the recent plane crash.
Rebecca Liquori also told NBC News that she felt the plane lurch violently before the impact, suggesting the pilots were working hard to minimize the damage.
She expressed immense gratitude for the rescue, but was deeply saddened by the fact that the rescuers couldn’t return to their own families. She emphasized that the pilot’s quick actions were what saved her life.
