The third season of ‘The Teacher’ features Victoria Hamilton as a woman whose life unravels when a student takes their own life. She faces losing everything as a result.
Helen Simpson, the recently appointed head of drama at Cheetham Hall boarding school, is filmed scolding a student named Dee, who identifies as non-binary – a concept Simpson is finding difficult to grasp. This happens while Dee is already going through a challenging period, and the next morning, Dee is found dead in their dorm room.
The video was filmed by Cressida, a classmate who has held a grudge against Helen since Helen wouldn’t switch from studying Shakespeare to a more contemporary topic. Cressida also believed Helen pretended to care about another student, Dee, to get what she wanted.
Driven by a desire for revenge, Cressida pushes her teacher, Helen, to her limits, threatening to destroy Helen’s life if she fails to comply.
The story follows Helen as she investigates Cressida’s history, revealing a painful and lonely upbringing. The question remains: will Helen discover enough about Cressida’s past to prevent her from seeking ultimate revenge?
Hamilton explained that the contrast between episode 1 and episode 4 is striking, but that’s realistic – even small actions can have big consequences, just like in real life.

The actor expressed her hope that viewers will find themselves shifting their loyalties as the story unfolds, gaining a deeper understanding of the characters’ motivations and actions.
Stories become truly captivating when your loyalties shift – when you initially support one person, but then start to understand the other’s perspective.
I’m really excited about season 3 of The Teacher! It’s a completely fresh story, but like the very first season, it’s fascinating to learn that a lot of it was filmed overseas, even though the story is actually set in England. It’s a clever touch, and adds to the intrigue for me.
For more information about the filming locations, read on.
Where was The Teacher season 3 filmed?
The scenes of Cheetham Hall boarding school were filmed at Fanhams Hall, a hotel located in Hertfordshire.
All the indoor shots were filmed in Vitoria-Gasteiz, a city in northern Spain. Steve Edge, who played Terry (Helen’s husband), described it as a genuinely Spanish location that hadn’t been overrun by tourists.
Rochenda Sandall, who plays Tessa Stewart, described filming in the Basque Country as amazing, saying they had two months to explore the entire region.
She explained that the school building was originally an old church, which had been renovated and turned into an art college. The team then further transformed it into Cheetham Hall.
“It didn’t really look anything like my school,” she laughed.
