A reliable source claims that the long-awaited remake of the popular role-playing game, Final Fantasy 9, has been temporarily paused.
On his recent podcast, NateTheHate shared details about a project Square Enix hasn’t officially announced yet.
He mentioned the game is currently paused, meaning Square Enix might revisit it in the future, but there haven’t been any recent developments. He’s hopeful that a Final Fantasy 9 remake will eventually happen.
I’ve been following NateTheHate for a while now, and he’s usually really reliable when it comes to leaks and stuff. So, honestly, I think there might be something to what he’s saying here. It definitely sounds plausible to me!
I remember when that big Nvidia leak happened a while back – it listed a ton of potential remakes, and Final Fantasy 9 was on there! It’s been so long, and almost everything else from that list has actually come true, but FF9 has been the one exception that fans like me have been waiting for.
If true, it seems like Square Enix is temporarily shelving the project in favour of others.
We don’t know how much progress has been made, or even if the project is legitimate, but it definitely isn’t finished. It will likely be some time before we can experience the world of Gaia again.
