Following the success of its live-action adaptation of One Piece, Netflix has announced the release date for Season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The original Avatar animated series remains a beloved favorite among fans, and Netflix’s new live-action version was also a hit when it premiered. Due to its popularity, the series has been renewed for two additional seasons.
Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, which premiered in 2024, was quickly renewed for both a second and third season. Season 2 will explore more of the Earth Kingdom storyline from the original animated series, focusing on Aang’s training with a new Earthbending teacher. To get fans excited, Netflix has announced Season 2 will premiere on June 25th and released a behind-the-scenes preview.
When Does Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 Come Out?
Season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender will premiere globally on Netflix June 25th. Production on Season 3 is already finished, which is great news! This fast turnaround helps the show stay true to the original animated series and should prevent the long delays that sometimes happen with other large Netflix productions. Considering the story is meant to unfold over just a year, this quick pace is ideal.
The main cast from season one, including Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko, Elizabeth Yu as Azula, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, will all be back for season two. Joining them is Miya Cech as Toph Beifong, a new character who will play a key role in helping Aang learn Earthbending and master all four elements.
What’s New for Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender Seasons 2 and 3?
The second season of Aang’s journey will take place in the Earth Kingdom, and will also lay the groundwork for an even larger third season. Several new actors are joining the cast, including Chin Han as Long Feng, Justin Chien as King Kuei, Amanda Zhou as Joo Dee, Crystal Yu as Lady Beifong, Kelemete Mispeka as The Boulder, Hoa Xuande as Professor Zei, Lourdes Faberes as General Sung, Rekha Sharma as Amita, Madison Hu as Fei, Dichen Lachman as Yangchen, Dolly De Leon as Lo and Li, Lily Gao as Ura, Terry Chen as Jeong Jeong, Jon Jon Briones as Piandao, and Tantoo Cardinal as Hama.
With the live-action series officially scheduled to premiere, 2024 is shaping up to be a big year for Avatar: The Last Airbender. The original creators of the animated show are also working on a new movie, set to be released on Paramount+ this October, and a sequel series is already being planned. Fans have a lot to anticipate in the coming months!
