Okay, so everyone’s been talking about One Piece, but I have to say, there’s a new show on Netflix that’s completely grabbed my attention. It launched last week and is already dominating the charts – seriously, it’s not letting up! It’s an 8-episode horror thriller that premiered on March 26th, created by Haley Z. Boston, and get this – the Duffer brothers, the masterminds behind Stranger Things, are executive producers. Definitely worth checking out if you’re into spooky, suspenseful stuff.
Netflix has consistently delivered excellent thrillers, with shows like You, Mindhunter, and the many series created by Mike Flanagan keeping viewers hooked. This new series follows that tradition, quickly captivating audiences with its blend of horror and psychological suspense. It proves that even without Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers can still create a hugely popular show.
While it might not evoke the same strong feelings of nostalgia as Stranger Things, the new series Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen is a huge hit. Since launching last Friday, it’s been a top performer on Netflix worldwide. Currently, it’s number one (according to Flix Patrol), surpassing popular shows like One Piece, Detective Hole, and Beauty in Black.
Is ‘Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen’ Really That Good?
Featuring Camila Morrone and Adam DiMarco, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen follows Rachel and Nicky as they get ready to marry. In the week before the wedding, Nicky introduces Rachel to his affluent family, but she quickly senses that something isn’t right. As she gets to know them, a growing feeling of unease washes over her, and she can’t shake the feeling that something terrible is about to happen – just as the title suggests.
Rather than relying on sudden frights, the movie Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen creates a genuinely creepy atmosphere that immediately draws you in. It’s a compelling mystery that encourages you to try and solve it, subtly hinting at the solution with clues throughout the film, building to a dramatic climax.
If you’re like me and love a good, dark mystery to get lost in, you absolutely have to check out Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. It’s an eight-episode series, and honestly, it’s a slow build, but trust me – sticking with it until the very end is so worth it when all the pieces finally fall into place and you understand what’s been going on. It really kept me hooked!
What’s Next for The Duffer Brothers?

So, Stranger Things is officially wrapping up, and everyone’s digging into Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen – which is awesome! But the Duffer brothers? They’re already back at it. They’re staying on as executive producers for an animated spin-off called Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, which takes us back to Hawkins. Eric Robles is the creative force behind it, and it’s hitting Netflix on April 23rd. I’m already excited to see what they do with animation!
The Russo brothers are teaming up with Netflix again, this time as executive producers on a new sci-fi thriller called The Boroughs. The show centers around a group of ordinary people living in a retirement community who have to save the world from a strange, powerful danger. It will begin streaming on May 21st.
