This police drama offers a new take on the classic procedural format. The lead actress is fantastic – she’s a master of the withering glare, and it’s captivating to watch her intimidate the local police officers.

After a successful first season that viewers loved, Acorn Media International is excited to bring back Ellis, the captivating detective drama that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

Award-winning actress Sharon D. Clarke (known for roles in Mr Loverman, Showtrial, and Doctor Who) returns as the determined and straightforward Detective Chief Inspector Ellis in the second series of the popular show. You can watch it digitally starting March 31st, and it will be available on DVD from May 18th, after airing on Channel 5.

In the second series of Ellis, Detective Inspector Ellis returns, having successfully solved cases in the first series. She’s now assigned to investigate troubled investigations throughout northern England.

Alongside Detective Sergeant Harper (played by Andrew Gower, known from Outlander, Carnival Row, and Miss Scarlet and the Duke), she confronts a fresh surge of troubled communities and puzzling cases that challenge both her exceptional forensic skills and her inner strength.

As a big fan of crime dramas, I’m really excited about this new series! It’s written by Paul Logue, who’s done amazing work on shows like Shetland and Vera, and Sian Ejiwunmi-Le Berre, who was involved with Murder Is Easy. From what I hear, it’s going to be a compelling watch, diving into two complex cases full of secrets, what people really want, and the ways they end up hurting each other.

A determined detective investigates the unexpected death of a well-respected community figure, revealing buried conflicts and the earlier death of a young woman. The investigation leads the team to discover a secret system of control and abuse.

Fans of the detective series will be thrilled to have Ellis back, tackling another round of baffling and deadly crimes. This intense and gripping drama is not to be missed!
