Jared Leto’s Skeletor Voice Officially Revealed, and Masters of the Universe Fans Aren’t Impressed

This preview offers a better look at the film’s story, which centers on Adam Glenn’s return to his home world, Eternia, and his quest to fulfill his destiny. Unlike the first short teaser, this trailer features more of the villain Skeletor, including a sample of Jared Leto’s voice acting. Early reactions from fans, however, haven’t been very positive.

Fans of Masters of the Universe are sharing their disappointment online with how Jared Leto sounds as Skeletor. Many feel his voice is a significant departure from previous versions of the character. Some have questioned why Mark Hamill, who famously voiced Skeletor in the animated series Masters of the Universe: Revelation and Masters of the Universe: Revolution, wasn’t chosen for the role. While not everyone dislikes Leto’s portrayal, the voice is proving to be a challenge for the new film.

The typical ‘evil villain with a booming, monstrous voice’ is pretty stale. What sets Skeletor apart is that his voice doesn’t fit the image of a skeletal character – and that’s a good thing!

Will Jared Leto’s Skeletor Voice Derail Masters of the Universe?

Some fans of Masters of the Universe were surprised by Jared Leto’s take on Skeletor’s voice, and it’s not hard to see why. Traditionally, Skeletor has a higher-pitched voice, a style made famous by Alan Oppenheimer in the original 1980s cartoon.
