The rain fell down in the O.C. and woke Lauren Conrad‘s dreams.
I’ve been following Kristin Cavallari for years, ever since her days on Laguna Beach and then The Hills. It’s funny, though – she actually didn’t set out to build a career being on TV! She kind of fell into it after those first shows.
Lauren explained to People magazine that she always viewed reality TV as a stepping stone, a way to build relationships that would help her achieve her long-term goals.
You know, back in 2009, when The Hills was really blowing up, I decided it was time to shift my focus. After five seasons, I stepped away from the show to really dive into my passion for fashion. That’s when I launched my own clothing line at Kohl’s – it was a dream come true!
Lately, when she’s not working, the 40-year-old has been enjoying life back in her hometown of Laguna Beach. She shares two children, 9-year-old Liam and 6-year-old Charlie, with her husband, William Tell.
She said it’s freeing to live life on her own terms after spending so many years in the public eye, adding, ‘It feels good to just be myself, without anyone really knowing who I am.’
Lauren, who recently appeared in Roku’s The Reunion: Laguna Beach, shared that she’s feeling content and thankful. ‘I’m just really happy and settled,’ she said.
The fashion designer is happy enjoying life outside of the public eye, but she appreciates how much the show helped her career. She especially thanks her father, Jim Conrad, for his support.
Lauren shared with TopMob News in 2022 that he initially encouraged her to consider the show as a chance to network, pointing out the close connection between the entertainment and fashion industries. She explained, ‘That idea really stuck with me and became my biggest reason for participating.’
But she knew transitioning from reality TV to fashion wasn’t going to be an easy feat.

I’ve been following her career for years, and it’s amazing to think about how different things were when she first started out. She told me that when she was transitioning from being on TV to creating her own brand, it wasn’t the norm like it is now. It was much harder to get people to take you seriously! She actually recounted her very first meeting with her agent – she was so clear about wanting to design clothes, but he immediately suggested she try acting instead. It just shows how much the industry has changed; now, it’s almost expected that someone will branch out and build something of their own.
So, Lauren was careful about where she invested her brand’s resources.
She explained that she was very careful and deliberate with every decision she made. She only pursued opportunities that felt natural and right for her, and wasn’t afraid to decline things that didn’t fit, even though it was difficult at first.
You know, she really hit the nail on the head for me. She said it’s so important to focus on what you genuinely love and are good at. I completely agree – when you’re truly passionate about something, it just shines through and you naturally create something better. It’s about putting your heart into your work, and I think that makes all the difference.
Let’s take a look back at how the cast of Laguna Beach first became known and what they’re up to today.

Remember when Lisa Love on Teen Vogue famously told Lauren Conrad she’d forever be known as the girl who skipped Paris? (Actually, that line originally came from Vogue‘s Anna Wintour, as discovered in a 2019 look back at The Hills.)
More than ten years after that controversial choice and her breakup with Jason Wahler, Lauren Conrad has achieved a lot. She’s a New York Times bestselling author, co-founded The Little Market to support female artisans globally, and built a successful fashion and lifestyle brand, starting with her Kohl’s line.
She’s come a long way from the drama at Les Deux! Lauren married musician and lawyer William Tell in a dreamy Pinterest-worthy wedding in 2014. They now have two sons: Liam James Tell and Charlie Wolf Tell, born in October 2019.

Kristin Cavallari has successfully transitioned from reality TV star to entrepreneur. She’s expanded her lifestyle brand, Uncommon James, with a fourth store opening in Charleston in 2024, and also launched a shoe line with Chinese Laundry and authored three cookbooks. After ten years together, she and former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler had three children – Camden Jack, Jaxon Wyatt, and Saylor James – before divorcing in April 2020.
Following a breakup with Mark Estes in September 2024, Cavallari is now navigating the dating world again. She told TopMob News in 2023 that she’s been on many dates recently, but doesn’t have time for games or insincere people, stating, ‘I just don’t have time for bullst anymore.’

Jason Wahler, known for his rebellious behavior on reality shows like Laguna Beach and The Hills, faced numerous problems after his time on television, including drug use, DUIs, and arrests. He finally got sober after appearing on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew Pinsky.
He later married Ashley Slack, describing their relationship as his first while sober. Together, they have three children: Delilah Ray (born August 2017), Wyatt Ragle (born June 2021), and August Robert (born May 2025). Jason, who founded Widespread Recovery, continues to openly discuss his past struggles, both on The Hills: New Beginnings and in his YouTube series, JAWS Diaries with Jason & Ashley Wahler.
Now living in Nashville, Jason shared in 2023 that he’s become close with Kristen again after moving to Tennessee. They had grown apart as they focused on their own lives and families, but she remains a supportive friend.

After fueling fan fiction about a love triangle with Kristin and Stephen, actor Laguna is now concentrating on his acting career. He was a regular on The CW’s One Tree Hill for five seasons and appeared as Taylor Swift’s love interest in her “White Horse” music video. He also briefly worked as a VJ on the original Total Request Live on MTV. More recently, he starred in the 2018 TV movie Hometown Christmas and Hulu’s Everyone Is Doing Great, alongside former One Tree Hill co-star James Lafferty.
As for his relationship with podcast co-host Kristin, it’s over. Stephen proposed to NASCAR reporter Alex Weaver in November 2023. He told TopMob News in 2024 that they are enjoying their engagement while still planning the wedding details.
I’ve been following this couple, and their journey is just so sweet! They kept their wedding incredibly chic and understated, sharing the first photos as ‘Mr. & Mrs.’ on Instagram back in October of 2025. Then, just a few months later in January 2026, they announced they were expecting – and soon to be parents! – with a simple, heartwarming ‘Mom & Dad’ post. It’s all so lovely and feels very authentic to their style.

For a long time, Lauren Conrad made it clear she didn’t want to revisit her time on The Hills. She recalled telling producers, when asked about returning, that she absolutely wouldn’t. She wanted to completely distance herself from the people she associated with on the show.
This shift makes sense, as she moved on to a new career. After graduating from The International Culinary Center and publishing The Lo-Down, she founded Love Wellness, a personal care line for women, in 2016 and relocated to New York City.
In a 2024 interview, she explained that while she isn’t in constant contact with her former castmates, that’s normal after twenty years. She still considers them friends and would happily greet them warmly if she saw them.
Lauren has continued to build a fulfilling life. She married businessman Domenic “Dom” Natale in a small Laguna Beach wedding in July 2025, and they welcomed their daughter, Nelle, in January.
“I’ve created the life I always wanted,” she shared. “I’ve accomplished a lot, and now I just want to maintain that: happiness, health, family, and spending time with the people I care about.”

Before settling down, actor Talan Torriero had short-term relationships with K.Cav, Kimberly Stewart, and Nicole Scherzinger. He met his future wife, Danielle Torriero, at a Los Angeles bar on her 21st birthday in 2009.
They later moved from California to Danielle’s home state of Nebraska, where they’re building a house on a nearly one-acre property. The couple married in June 2014 and have three children: Bronson, born in October 2017; Hudson, born in December 2020; and Anderson Tito, born in June 2023.
Talan recalled being immediately struck by Danielle when he first saw her. “I wondered who that was,” he told TopMob News. “We started talking, and she said she was from Nebraska. I didn’t even know where that was! And now, 14 years later, I’m living there.”

That first runway show was just the beginning for Trey. After leaving Laguna, he moved to New York City to study fashion design and renewable energy at Parsons School of Design, graduating in 2010. He stayed in New York, working as an associate designer for Vera Wang and also spent time in London.
In 2023, he founded Motion Illustrated, sharing on his website that after over a decade designing for major fashion brands, he wanted to showcase his own style. While he generally keeps a low profile on social media, he has occasionally shared photos of his partner, Kasumi.

Lauren and Stephen’s close friend pursued his passion for hospitality and now works as the general manager of the Sofitel New York, leaving his life at the beach behind.
He remains close to his high school friends, including Lauren, Stephen, Trey, and Loren Polster, all of whom attended his 2016 wedding in Monterey, California. He and his wife, Isabell Hiebl, consider Austria a second home. They welcomed their son, Nico Josef Schmitz, in September 2018, and their daughter, Leni, in March 2023.

Since her time on Laguna Beach, KCav’s friend has mostly avoided being on reality TV. After a brief period in the spotlight due to a 2007 DUI, she built a quiet life in Texas with her husband, Michael Evans, whom she describes as incredibly kind and loving, and their four children. She does have a blog and an online shop, but mostly, she jokes online, she’s focused on keeping track of her kids.

Remember Alex and Jessica competing for Jason’s affection? That feels like a long time ago! Alex married Kyle Johnson in 2014, with Morgan Olson, Alex H., and Taylor Cole as bridesmaids. They now have three sons: Levi (born in 2016), Kase (born in 2018), and Rome (born in April 2021). Alex used her communications degree from Chapman University to co-found MOX Agency, a social media marketing company, in 2014.

I’ve been following Morgan’s journey since the beginning, and it’s always been inspiring to see how grounded she is. When she first joined MTV in 2004, she wasn’t chasing fame at all – she just wanted to document her high school years with her friends, as she told Time. And honestly, even with all the attention, she always had a clear plan for her life: she wanted to find a good Mormon man and build a family.
She really followed through! After graduating from Brigham Young University in 2008 with a degree in humanities and journalism, she married Joel Smith just two years later. She’s always said she wanted to do the things that mattered to her regardless of the TV show, and she did: college, travel, marriage, and building a career. Now she’s a designer with Minnow Swim, and after starting in New York and Los Angeles, she’s settled in South Carolina with her beautiful showroom in Charleston. Most importantly, she’s a mom to Theo, Georgia, and Julian, and it’s clear that family is everything to her.

Casey wasn’t one of the original stars of Laguna Beach, but she definitely made an impact when she joined the show. Since then, she’s become a successful baker, opening Casey’s Cupcakes in Orange County and even winning Cupcake Wars on the Food Network in 2011.
Her personal life is equally happy. She’s been married to Sean Brown (who is related to the late Nicole Brown Simpson) since August 2015, and they have three children: a daughter named Kensington, and sons Sean Brown Jr. and Conrad.

Just under three years after attending Taylor’s wedding to Kevin Simshauser in October 2015, Taylor and a friend both discovered they were expecting babies, only eight weeks apart. She welcomed her daughter, Tatum, in September 2018, followed by sons Cole in January 2020, and Olson in August 2022. Taylor, who founded Taylor Cole Holistic Nutrition, also enjoys sharing glimpses of her life on Instagram.
