‘Paradise’ Season 3: Confirmation, Cast, Plot & Everything We Know

The second season of Paradise just finished with a dramatic and explosive finale as the bunker faced certain destruction. Now, Xavier (Sterling K. Brown) is puzzled by the new mission Samantha (Julianne Nicholson) has given him, leaving viewers eager to see what happens next.

It’s understandable that Xavier would doubt being asked to turn on a powerful, futuristic computer to fix the world and change time. But that’s exactly why we need to keep watching Hulu’s thrilling post-apocalyptic series, Paradise – we have to know what happens next!

Is ‘Paradise’ Returning for Season 3?

Fans will be happy to hear that Paradise has been renewed for a third and final season, several weeks before the current season ends. According to creator Dan Fogelman, he always planned for the show to run for three seasons and already has a clear idea of how the story will unfold in each one, as he told The Hollywood Reporter.

John Hoberg, an executive producer and writer on the show, said the Season 3 finale is designed to make it very challenging to create a fourth season. Dan Fogelman added to the Los Angeles Times that their plans for Season 3 don’t allow for the story to continue easily.

The show Paradise has continually reinvented itself, starting as a political thriller, then becoming a post-apocalyptic drama, and now evolving into a sci-fi thriller. This transformation was always the goal, and it’s proving successful. Hulu reports that Season 2 garnered over 30 million hours of viewership by mid-March, exceeding the 25 million hours watched for Season 1.

It’s still unclear when the next season of this gripping show will premiere. However, creator Fogelman announced on Instagram on March 21, 2026, that the entire script for Season 3 is finished. He told the Los Angeles Times that filming will begin in mid-April, and he’s aiming for a quicker release schedule than before. Considering Season 1 debuted in late January 2025 and Season 2 followed in late February 2026, Fogelman hopes to have Season 3 ready by January 2027 if everything goes smoothly.

You’ll still be able to watch Paradise on both Hulu and Disney+ for now. But once Hulu stops operating as its own app – likely before Season 3 comes out – it will move to being available only on Disney+.

‘Paradise’ Season 3 Will Resolve The Overarching Mysteries

Although the exact plot of Paradise Season 3 is still under wraps, the show’s creator, Fogelman, has shared some clues. We’ll see Xavier ultimately attempt the task he was given: traveling to a second, hidden bunker near the Denver airport – about 100 miles from the first – to locate and awaken Alex. Given that Link/Dylan (Thomas Doherty) created Alex, it’s probable he’ll join Xavier on this journey. However, this won’t happen immediately, and there’s a good reason for the delay.

Dan Fogelman told the Los Angeles Times that Xavier has recently reunited with his family, and a strange assignment from a wealthy, eccentric man doesn’t automatically mean he needs to rush off. Fogelman explained that the third season will explore how Xavier processes this new information and whether he’ll accept it. If Dylan reveals more details, Xavier might realize this is a genuine mission with significant global implications. Discovering time travel is possible and that someone created a machine to use it will be a lot to take in. Because of this, and his time with family, Xavier’s departure will be delayed for at least one episode, possibly longer.

Season 3 of Paradise shifts to a more desolate, sci-fi setting, similar to shows like Lost. With the protective bunker gone, the survivors are now completely exposed and must find their own resources for shelter, food, and safety – a challenging new situation for them. Teri, Dylan, Bean, and Dylan’s group will need to step up and guide the others.

It’s strange that no one seems to remember Dr. Louge’s prediction from Season 2. He foresaw the Earth becoming dangerously hot just a few years after the massive tsunami. Given how accurate his other predictions turned out to be, this could mean the survivors are facing a new, critical threat. If it happens, they’ll be in a desperate struggle – not just to alter the past, but to survive as the planet overheats.

The new season will definitely play with time, likely using unexpected events, as confirmed by creator Dan Fogelman. He revealed to The Los Angeles Times that Annie’s son, who will appear as a child rather than a baby, will be important to the story, hinting at shifts in the timeline. The season will also delve into mysteries surrounding these timelines, specifically questioning whether Dylan is truly Samantha’s biological son. Fogelman explained to The Los Angeles Times that while it seems like he is, the truth is complicated due to the show’s sci-fi elements.

We also need to figure out Alex’s prediction by looking at the codes on the “Unit X” mission card. Most importantly, we need to understand what will happen if Alex is activated and travels back in time – specifically, where and when they’ll end up.

Who Will Be In ‘Paradise’ Season 3?

What struck me about Paradise is its fascinating narrative structure. It doesn’t really close any doors, meaning any character, even those we’ve seen meet their end, could conceivably reappear. And it’s not just relying on typical flashbacks; the show plays with time itself, jumping around and introducing anomalies that make anything feel possible. It really keeps you guessing about who might show up next.

As a huge fan, I’m really excited about who’s coming back for the next season! We’re definitely seeing Xavier and Dylan again, and it seems pretty likely Teri will return, along with Presley and James. I’m particularly intrigued by Gabi – I have a feeling her therapist background will be key in helping the survivors from the surface connect with those who were in the bunker, and guiding everyone through this new world. Honestly, I’m bracing myself for some serious drama between Gabi and Teri, especially once Teri finds out about Gabi and Xavier. We’ll probably see Jeremy back too, and I’m really hoping Nicole returns – they wouldn’t have saved her just to help Jeremy grow, would they? And after she confessed to regretting never telling Cal how she felt, I need to see her get a chance to say it!

Although Cal has been deceased from the start, we’ve seen him in flashbacks throughout the first two seasons, and it’s unknown if he’ll appear again in Season 3. Samantha’s family – her husband, Tim, and daughter, Hadley – survived, and it would be compelling to see how they react to Dylan. Several other characters – Billy, Anders, Henry, and Geiger – are also confirmed to be dead in this timeline, leaving their potential involvement uncertain. We can also expect to see the return of Dylan’s surviving companions.

Given that Samantha is likely deceased in this storyline, she might reappear through memories or in an alternate timeline. Dan Fogelman hinted to the Los Angeles Times that Julianne’s character could return, suggesting we haven’t seen the last of her.

The biggest mystery revolves around Jane (Nicole Brydon Bloom), who everyone believed had died. The episode showed a close-up of the bathroom where she was found, but her body was gone. This raises the question of whether she’s somehow different, or if she actually survived. Perhaps someone moved her? Creator Dan Fogelman hinted that things appear fatal, but he also pointed to that lingering shot of the bathroom, admitting it’s designed to leave viewers questioning what really happened. It’s definitely a perplexing situation.

Wow, Season 2 is over already! I’m already so excited for Season 3 of Paradise and can’t help but wonder what’s going to happen. It feels like the wait will be ages, and I’m sure everyone’s coming up with their own ideas about what’s in store until it finally arrives.
