Taryn Manning is sharing her side of the story.
Following the release of a video showing a physical fight allegedly involving her, the former Orange Is the New Black actress explained that much of the background information wasn’t shared publicly. She specifically clarified that the other woman in the video was not her girlfriend, contrary to initial reports.
In a video posted to Instagram on March 31st, Manning explained he didn’t want to watch something because it would likely bother him, adding that he believes violence is never acceptable.
The 47-year-old expressed her frustration with the video’s release, explaining that it made her appear “one-sided and violent” because it was filmed from the other woman’s point of view.
Look, as someone who’s seen a lot of relationships, both familial and otherwise, boundaries are everything. I’ve been hearing a lot about this situation, and honestly, it sounds exhausting. This woman isn’t a relative, she’s not a partner – she’s someone I met years ago as a fan. I’m realizing I simply can’t be responsible for housing someone with that kind of connection. It’s a lot to ask, and frankly, it’s just too much for me to handle right now. It’s about self-respect and knowing your limits, and sometimes you have to say ‘no’ to protect your own well-being.
Honestly, it feels like a personal attack, like they’re doing this to me, and I just have to sit here and take it! I’m so over it, it’s just awful, awful, awful. It’s such a dumb move, it doesn’t even make sense!
The actress from Crossroads didn’t say what caused the fight with the woman, but a TMZ video captured Manning shouting at the person recording, saying, “Look what you’ve done to my studio.”

After she said she would call the police, the person filming said, “Go ahead and call them. I’ll tell them you were the one who attacked me.”
Manning then told the woman she wished the police would come and inspect the situation, implying the woman had made a mess. The woman responded by asking what she had done wrong, stating she had actually been cleaning.
Manning then appeared to kick a bag at the camera.
In October 2012, Manning was arrested for simple assault after reportedly attacking her assistant, Holly Hartman, in New York City. According to police reports at the time, Manning allegedly punched, kicked, and choked Hartman.

Ultimately, prosecutors decided not to pursue charges against Manning after the alleged victim, Hartman, informed the district attorney’s office she didn’t want to press criminal charges, according to Manning’s representative.
A spokesperson for Manning described the situation as a regrettable disagreement between close friends who are like family. They expressed confidence that the issue will be quickly and easily resolved between the two individuals.
Four years after the initial incident, Hartman obtained a restraining order against Manning following a new alleged dispute, which Manning claimed never happened.
According to Manning’s lawyer, the investigations began long before these false accusations surfaced. It’s evident that Hartman’s team leaked the private allegations to boost her public image and distract from her own misconduct, as reported by TopMob News.
In February 2016, Hartman’s lawyer told TopMob that the case was dropped because Hartman didn’t show up for his court date.
