Warning! This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episodes 2 and 3.
As a huge Daredevil fan, I was thrilled to get two episodes of ‘Born Again’ this week! Things are really falling apart in the city after that crazy showdown at the docks, and it’s clear Matt Murdock is heading for a major clash with Fisk. But he can’t just take on the mayor directly – he’s trying to dismantle Fisk’s power and get people on his side, which is a tough fight. I’m really invested in seeing how he pulls it off!
In episodes two and three, Daredevil makes progress towards his objectives, but faces internal conflict. Even after successfully freeing several of Fisk’s key enemies, Fisk demonstrates he’s still the one calling the shots in New York.
The BB Report Has Been Taken Over, But BB Is Fighting Back
In season one, BB Urich used her online news show, The BB Report, to keep people informed about events in New York. However, because of her relationship with Daniel Blake – who was recently hired by Mayor Fisk to handle communications – the show now seems to be spreading Fisk’s message rather than reporting the news.
Even so, BB refuses to be silenced. We discover she’s the one creating the “City Without Fear” broadcasts, where she disguises herself with a mask resembling Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) and identifies herself as the Mayor. Through these broadcasts, she aims to expose the falsehoods presented in “The BB Report” and reveal the real situation in the city.
Mayor Fisk Put A Target On Matt Murdock’s Back… As A Hero
Mayor Fisk explains he hasn’t exposed Daredevil’s identity because Matt Murdock saved his life in public. Fisk worries that targeting Murdock would create public sympathy and make people see Murdock – and Daredevil – as a hero instead of a dangerous vigilante.
Fisk is trying to regain control of how the story is being told, and his first move is to publicly announce Matt Murdock as a hero, offering a reward for information leading to his whereabouts. This is a shrewd tactic because it hides Fisk’s true plans for Daredevil. However, it also makes things much more difficult for Matt and Karen Page, who are currently working undercover and trying to stay hidden.
Matt Murdock & Karen Page Have Very Different Plans For How To Deal With Fisk
Matt Murdock and Karen Page have found love again while keeping a low profile. After a long, complicated history, they’ve finally built a relationship based on honesty and trust. Matt is no longer keeping his identity as Daredevil a secret, and Karen is actively helping him in his work as a vigilante, using her talents to support him.
Throughout these episodes, Karen and Matt repeatedly disagree on how to handle Fisk. Matt is determined not to kill again, having learned a painful lesson about crossing that line. Karen, on the other hand, has killed people while defending herself, and those experiences have profoundly impacted her.
Karen and Matt have very different views on how to handle Fisk. Karen thinks he should be stopped permanently, while Matt believes even someone like Fisk deserves mercy. Adding to this conflict, the end of episode 3 shows Karen resorting to drastic actions – she shoots an AVTF agent, proving she’s willing to go to extremes.
Daredevil Frees The Prisoners Of Red Hook With Some Surprising Allies
In the third episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, the story reaches a critical point as Daredevil infiltrates the hidden prison in Red Hook. He’s able to get inside thanks to a card obtained from the AVTF agent Karen Page kidnapped earlier, and with some help from his law partner, Kirsten McDuffie, who provided him with a basic understanding of the prison’s layout.
He stormed the building, rescued the hostages, and Jacques Duquesne, using his skills as the Swordsman, fought alongside them to escape. What really turned heads, though, was Angela del Toro showing up with the White Tiger amulet. Her assistance was critical – she helped get everyone safely away from Red Hook and even disabled the AVTF’s vehicles, slashing tires and stealing one to slow them down.
Despite being featured in the trailers, Jessica Jones still hasn’t appeared in the season. She might show up in future episodes, but there’s currently no hint of when she’ll join the action in New York.
Kingpin Retaliates By Blowing Up The Northern Star Shipwreck
In a ruthless act, Kingpin orders the wrecked ship, the Northern Star, to be destroyed with explosives after Matt and his allies escape Red Hook. This is particularly cruel because some crew members were still on board and have likely perished.
Fisk probably acted this way partly to shield himself from scrutiny regarding the illegal weapons being smuggled on the ship. However, timing the event was a calculated move: it allowed him to portray the vigilantes as cruel killers responsible for the deaths of innocents, and to further destabilize New York City.
Okay, so Daredevil managed a small victory, rescuing some people Fisk had trapped with his AVTF goons. But honestly, the way Fisk retaliated was just awful – really public and brutal, and I worry it’s going to cause even more problems. The good news is, Daredevil isn’t alone anymore! He’s finally got some allies joining the fight, and I’m really hoping they can help take down the AVTF before things get completely out of control. This empowered AVTF is a seriously growing threat, and they need all the help they can get.
Matt Murdock faces difficult decisions regarding Mayor Fisk. He must reach out to Benjamin Poindexter, also known as Bullseye, to prevent further damage to the fight for justice, all while protecting himself and his loved ones from the AVTF’s attacks.
Season 2 of “Daredevil: Born Again” is getting intense! The battle between Matt Murdock and Mayor Fisk for control of New York is reaching a critical point. Both characters need help, and the question is whether Matt can gather enough allies quickly enough to face the powerful and corrupt officers of the AVTF.
