Season 2 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes has concluded, and it was somewhat uneven. The beginning episodes weren’t consistently strong, but the season really picked up around the halfway point. We got a heartbreaking backstory for a popular character from My Hero Academia, and Koichi faced his most dangerous challenge yet. The season ended strongly, potentially setting up a third season if one is made.
Season 2 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes really shines by effectively combining heartfelt moments with the exciting action the series is famous for. Though the stakes aren’t quite as high as in Deku’s main storyline, they reach a new level of intensity towards the end of the season. Combined with a particularly impactful flashback story, Season 2 leaves a lasting impression. Here’s a ranking of all the episodes. Please be warned: This contains major spoilers for MHA: Vigilantes Season 2, Episodes 1-13.
13) “Day-Tripping Down to Naniwa!” (Episode 1)

Like most seasons of My Hero Academia, the second season of Vigilantes starts a bit slowly. The first episode features Koichi and Pop Step traveling to Osaka, and while it’s an enjoyable trip with a brief appearance by Fat Gum, it doesn’t immediately grab your attention, especially when compared to later episodes. The episode ends by hinting at the bigger danger posed by the Villain Factory, but mostly through characters having conversations. It’s a solid re-introduction to the story and serves its purpose, but it remains the least exciting installment of the season.
12) “Public and Private (Episode 3)

Watching Episode 3 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 felt like a bit of a breather after the previous episode, but it was a welcome one, especially if you’re familiar with the main My Hero Academia series. The episode really focuses on the relationship between All Might and Detective Tsukauchi, a friendship that actually plays a role in the bigger story. It also gives us a look at what All Might’s life was like as a Pro Hero, and it makes you think about how difficult it was for heroes to maintain personal connections. The episode, titled “Public and Private,” balances some lighthearted moments with these more serious themes and moves the plot forward, while also giving Makoto a chance to develop. While it wasn’t the most exciting episode, it was a solid addition to the series overall, though probably not one I’d revisit anytime soon.
11) “Crabtastic Rampage!” (Episode 2)

Season 2, Episode 2 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is a noticeable improvement over the first few episodes, with more action and a deeper dive into the ongoing Trigger storyline. Koichi and Pop Step are still operating in Osaka and quickly become entangled in a Trigger operation. The episode showcases Fat Gum’s abilities and establishes the Scarred Man (Number 6) as a truly formidable villain. We also get to know Monika Kaniyashiki, who is a really interesting character. The episode successfully blends the series’ serious, suspenseful moments with its signature humor and lightheartedness. While not a crucial installment, it’s highly engaging and will definitely keep you watching.
10) “Farewell Party!” (Episode 9)

Episode 9 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 acts as a transition, connecting the events of the School Days arc to the upcoming Sky Egg arc. The episode focuses on Captain Celebrity getting ready to return to the United States after winning his legal issues, and it’s set during a cheerful Christmas season. While the episode is filled with lighthearted and enjoyable character interactions, the standout moment is Captain Celebrity rescuing students from the Sisters of Saint Lila’s Academy when a villain attacks their taxi. This action sequence adds to the episode’s appeal and gives us a deeper look at Captain Celebrity as a hero. Although he has even stronger moments later in the series, this episode is still better than many of the earlier chapters in Season 2.
9) “The Man Returns” (Episode 5)

Many fans, perhaps missing the character of Knuckleduster, consider “The Man Returns” one of the best character-driven chapters in Season 2 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. While this episode isn’t packed with action, it effectively expands on the Trigger storyline and revisits familiar faces from Season 1, particularly focusing on Koichi’s old mentor. It sets up important plot points for the future, especially concerning Detective Tanuma and Knuckleduster. There are also some funny interactions between Aizawa and the Hotta brothers, though those moments were even stronger in the previous episode. Overall, it’s an important chapter, even if it isn’t the most exciting.
8) “A Rational Man” (Episode 4)

The episode “A Rational Man” features a challenging battle between Koichi, Aizawa, Mantis, the Hotta brothers, and the villain Octoid, which makes it a particularly exciting installment of My Hero Academia Season 2. Because Octoid was created in the Villain Factory, this fight connects directly to the broader story of the spinoff series. The episode also shows Koichi gaining better control of his Quirk. Importantly, it highlights just how dangerous the villain Number 6 is, and it’s one of the few times Aizawa confronts Koichi about his reckless actions. All of these factors combine to make this a strong episode – arguably the best of the season’s early installments, though it doesn’t quite reach the level of the more significant conflicts that follow.
7) “Graduation and Career Path” (Episode 13)

The season 2 finale of My Hero Academia wraps things up nicely while also building anticipation for what’s to come. It starts with some leftover action, then gives our heroes a largely positive conclusion, and cleverly leaves a few mysteries unanswered to keep viewers engaged. The animation remains strong, and the two-year time skip is a welcome change. The episode, titled “Graduation and Career Path,” sets up the events of season 3, hinting at future storylines like Pop Step’s worries about Koichi’s graduation. While not as action-packed as some of the season’s biggest moments, it’s a compelling episode, especially for those already familiar with the manga.
6) “Zero Hour” (Episode 10)

Episode 10, titled “Zero Hour,” marks the start of the big battle in Vigilantes‘ Sky Egg arc. The episode dramatically interrupts Captain Celebrity’s farewell party with an attack by multiple Bombers. The creatures escape and target the Sky Egg, creating a suspenseful situation comparable to the most intense moments in My Hero Academia. The discovery of the Villain Factory’s experiments by Detective Tsukauchi and the Pro Heroes is particularly striking and brings to mind the Nomu. The episode ends with a thrilling cliffhanger as the Bombers fly off to cause chaos, leaving viewers worried about Koichi and everyone at the party. While this episode doesn’t show the full scope of the battle, it effectively sets the stage for what’s to come. However, the arc’s climax and Aizawa’s backstory are both more impactful than this installment.
5) “Rain and Clouds” (Episode 6)

The ‘School Days’ arc in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 is particularly strong, largely due to the popularity of Aizawa and its emotionally impactful story. The episode ‘Rain and Clouds’ begins a flashback focusing on Aizawa, triggered by Koichi rescuing a kitten – a scene that mirrors a memory from Aizawa’s own high school days. Both kittens are charming, but the episode gains extra weight from its connections to the main My Hero Academia series. Aizawa’s early struggles with his Quirk are similar to those of Deku when he first arrived at U.A. High, and it’s interesting to see the beginnings of his journey to becoming a Pro Hero. While not as powerful as some of the other flashback episodes, ‘Rain and Clouds’ is more captivating than many Season 2 installments because it features beloved characters and skillfully shifts focus away from Koichi’s main story.
4) “Glass Sky” (Episode 7)

I was completely hooked by the recent episodes! “Rain and Clouds” did a great job of hinting at Aizawa’s past, but “Glass Sky” really cemented the amazing bond between him, Shirakumo, and Yamada. Seriously, their friendship is the heart of this chapter, and we get to see Shirakumo develop so much – it makes the Kurogiri reveal in My Hero Academia even more heartbreaking when you look back. It definitely feels like a peaceful moment before everything changes, knowing what’s going to happen to those three. It was both incredibly sweet and really tough to watch how Shirakumo’s advice shaped Aizawa, and how it ultimately influenced the way he teaches. This episode really shows you how Aizawa became the teacher we know, encouraging students to think outside the box with their Quirks. It’s a fantastic setup for both My Hero Academia and lays the groundwork for what becomes a truly devastating twist in Vigilantes. Honestly, the only thing holding it back from being top-tier is a lack of action, but it’s still a standout episode this season.
3) “This Is a Hero!” (Episode 12)

Season 2, Episode 12 of My Hero Academia concludes the battle against the Bombers. The episode starts with Koichi and the Pro Heroes in a dangerous situation, but All Might arrives just in time to save them from a deadly fall, keeping the fight alive. While seeing All Might fight is exciting, it’s a relatively short scene. What really makes this episode stand out is the intense final fight between Knuckleduster and Number 6, which features both great action and compelling dialogue. The animation is fantastic, and this episode nearly ranks as the second best. However, the episode “Balloon Soul” does a bit more to develop Koichi’s character, while still delivering thrilling action and suspense, making it slightly better overall.
2) “Balloon Soul” (Season 2, Episode 11)

Episode 11 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 features the major battle of the Sky Egg arc, with Koichi, Captain Celebrity, and several well-known Pro Heroes facing off against the Bombers. The episode is packed with exciting moments, especially with the arrival of heroes like Mirko and Best Jeanist, and delivers the best action sequence the series has seen so far. Captain Celebrity truly stands out, demonstrating why he deserves to be called a hero – he’s willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the day, though thankfully it doesn’t come to that. This selflessness makes him even more likable and highlights the show’s strong character development. Koichi also proves his strength and courage, showcasing how much he’s grown in both power and dedication. The episode, titled “Balloon Soul,” ends with a cliffhanger, keeping viewers engaged throughout. It’s a slightly stronger episode than “This Is a Hero!,” but still doesn’t quite reach the level of the most memorable chapter in Vigilantes Season 2.
1) “A Sky Left With No Rain” (Episode 8)

The eighth episode of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2, “A Sky Left With No Rain,” is easily the strongest of the season – and fans of the manga will likely agree. This episode powerfully concludes Aizawa’s origin story, showcasing his first major victory as a hero and his development into the character we know. It also depicts the tragic death of Shirakumo, a moment that remains incredibly impactful even for those familiar with the story. This episode is a particularly moving addition to both Vigilantes and the broader My Hero Academia universe, demonstrating the real costs of heroism and providing crucial insight into Aizawa’s character. Despite its emotional weight, the episode manages to end on a hopeful note, achieving a delicate balance that’s rare in storytelling.
