Zelda’s Official 40th Anniversary Release Confirmed For October

Man, can you believe The Legend of Zelda is turning 40 this year? As a huge fan, I’m really hoping Nintendo has some big announcements or releases planned to celebrate. It feels like a milestone that needs to be marked with something special!

While official announcements are still limited, there’s a lot of talk about future game releases, and some rumors suggest we might see a remake of Ocarina of Time for the Switch 2 later this year.

We’ve just received confirmation of one of the first products related to the franchise this year. It’s arriving a bit later than anticipated, but there are still many good reasons to check it out and make a purchase.

The Legend Of Zelda Returns This October

A Reddit user recently shared an Instagram post from Dark Horse Comics announcing a new Zelda release. The post’s caption confirmed the news.

Dark Horse is thrilled to release The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Secrets of the Zonai, the perfect guide for fans of the acclaimed game. This book is packed with fascinating content, including early sketches, design notes, concept art, and interviews! It will be available on October 20, 2026.

This release is quite similar to the popular companion book for Breath of the Wild. The main difference is the timing – this book came out three years after the game, while the Breath of the Wild companion was released just a year later.

Zelda Fans Aren’t Entirely Sold On This Release

People responded to the post with a range of reactions – some were thrilled the book was finally released, while others wondered why it had taken so long to appear.

One commenter shared their excitement about recently purchasing the Japanese Master Works book, as they believed an English version wouldn’t be released. They jokingly said they now need to start saving money again after the announcement of the English release.

Someone commented that they immediately purchased the Collector’s edition, calling it beautiful. They already own the Hero’s and Champion’s editions of ‘Creating a Champion’ and are excited to add this one to their collection.

Someone else wasn’t as optimistic, pointing out that it’s been three years since the original game came out. With Breath of the Wild, the ‘Creating a Champion’ book was released just a year later, which didn’t feel like such a long wait. This was likely because Nintendo Switches were hard to find and many people hadn’t owned a Wii U. Now, Tears of the Kingdom is three years old, and the initial excitement around it died down after only a year.

No matter when you expected it, this book is a great addition to everything else related to Zelda, and fans will likely be happy to have it. Hopefully, we’ll hear about more related news soon.
