Beloved Choatic Sandbox Game Arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 (And It’s Perfect Timing)

The internet can be a minefield on April 1st with all the April Fool’s Day pranks, making it hard to know what’s true. However, when Coffee Stain Studios announces news about Goat Simulator, you can trust it’s genuine – even though the game is known for its humor! Everything revealed during today’s Goat Direct 2026 showcase is real, including the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 version of Goat Simulator 3.

Goat Simulator 3, the sequel to Goat Simulator, first came out in 2022 and immediately became popular for its funny opening sequence, which playfully copies the beginning of the game Skyrim. Since then, it’s been released on almost every gaming system, including a Nintendo Switch version in 2024. And today, April 1st, Coffee Stain Studios has launched an upgraded edition of Goat Simulator 3 specifically for the new Nintendo Switch 2. It’s no surprise they chose April Fool’s Day to release a game known for its humor on a new platform!

What’s New in the Switch 2 Edition of Goat Simulator 3

Lots of games are now being released with special versions for the new Switch 2 console. If you’re thinking of buying Goat Simulator 3 for the Switch 2, or upgrading if you already own it, you’ll want to know what’s different. Good news: the full game, including all downloadable content, is available now as a Switch 2 edition! While the game description playfully highlights the core experience – “You can be a goat… on Nintendo Switch 2!” – there are also some genuine improvements to enjoy.

The new Nintendo Switch 2 version still lets you play with friends locally or online, and now includes a feature called GameShare. With GameShare, you can stream the game so a friend can join in, even if they don’t own Goat Simulator 3. Plus, you can use voice chat while playing, which is especially helpful for the wild, chaotic fun of exploring San Angora as a goat!

In addition to its features, Goat Simulator 3 will take advantage of the Switch 2’s improved hardware. This will result in sharper graphics and smoother gameplay, letting you fully enjoy the game’s custom goats and chaotic fun.

The Switch 2 version of Goat Simulator is now available on the Nintendo eShop for $29.99 – the same price as the original Switch game. If you already own Goat Simulator 3 on the original Switch, you can get the Switch 2 version with a 70% discount. Please note that this is a separate purchase, not an upgrade to the existing Switch version.

Goat Simulator 3 is widely available, letting you play on PC, PlayStation (4 & 5), Xbox (One and Series X|S), iOS, Android, Amazon Luna, and Nintendo Switch. You can enjoy the game on almost any platform.
