Playstack and Cold Symmetry have just released a new 12-minute trailer showing gameplay from their upcoming action RPG, Mortal Shell II. The game is heavily inspired by the ‘Souls’ series.
Players can now pre-order physical copies of Mortal Shell II. The standard edition costs $49.99 and includes the game itself. For $69.99, the “Revered Edition” offers a collector’s box, a SteelBook case, art prints, and an art book. If you pre-order either edition, you’ll also receive the “Obsidian” and “Skeletal Harbinger” in-game skins.

Here is an overview of the game, via Playstack:
About
Mortal Shell II is the next chapter in the Mortal Shell series, building on the first game with faster, more intense combat. It also features more detailed weapons you can heavily customize, and a world that’s more open for you to explore.
This action RPG features a large, interconnected open world that feels expansive but isn’t needlessly time-consuming to explore. It’s designed to reveal its unique environments and secret locations while still being respectful of your time.
Their Flesh is Your Weapon
Throughout the broken world of Mortal Shell II, you’ll find the resting places of ancient warriors. When you find one, you can take control of their shell, gaining access to their special powers and skills.
Develop your own fighting style by using the special powers of each Shell, and learn their history by finding hidden memories.
Cleanse a Ravaged World
The world of Mortal Shell II is a tightly connected, open landscape with twisting paths, patrolled by dangerous enemies. Exploring this world will uncover new parts of the story, different playable Shells, strong and unusual weapons, upgrades, and unique items.
Explore the ruins of forgotten temples, journey through dangerous forests and frozen wastelands, and enter fortresses built from bone.
Throughout the ruins and forgotten places, you’ll find over 60 dungeons, each designed to truly test your skills and the equipment you’ve gathered on your journey.
Dethrone False Gods
You are the Harbinger, destined to retrieve the sacred Ova of the Undermether, which have been stolen by terrifying creatures protecting her future young.
As a fan, I have to say the combat in Mortal Shell II feels amazing. It’s really quick and responsive, but still feels weighty and impactful. What’s cool is you don’t have to worry about a stamina bar, so you can really focus on using different strategies to break an enemy’s defenses and land those powerful critical hits!
Mortal Shell II is due out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam in 2026.
