Kelly Ripa may not be getting lucky at night, but at least she has straight teeth.
Kelly Ripa revealed on live television that her husband, Mark Consuelos, loses interest in being intimate after she wears her nighttime mouthguard.
Honestly, when he started talking about that koala study – how they apparently don’t get too bothered by rejection – I knew exactly where this was going. He’d admitted he could really relate to them, and it was like a little flag had been raised, signaling what the rest of the night would be about. It was a pretty clear sign, to me anyway.
Mark described koala mating rituals on a recent talk show, explaining that males essentially introduce themselves to females. According to Mark, if the female isn’t receptive, the male simply goes back to sleep, rather than getting upset, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
I just had to share this funny story! I was reading about a study, and it totally reminded me of my husband. Kelly, who’s about my age, said the same thing – she laughed and told him, ‘It’s like you!’ Then she playfully added that when she puts in her retainer, it sounds to him like a ‘chastity belt’! It cracked me up, and I thought you’d appreciate it too.
Mark completely understood and explained his bedtime routine, saying he uses a eucalyptus leaf and jokingly asks if anyone wants to be intimate, accepting a ‘no’ without issue.
Kelly and Mark have often been open about their intimate life together. The couple, who starred in All My Children and have been married since 1996, recently revealed they have different preferences when it comes to how often they’re intimate.
As a longtime fan, I always knew Kelly and Mark had to navigate some personal differences, and it was fascinating to hear about it! Apparently, Kelly really prefers being intimate at night, but Mark’s more of a morning person when it comes to that. Once they started co-hosting Live together in 2023, she had to be upfront about what she needed, and honestly, good for her for setting those boundaries!
I was talking to him recently, and I had to be honest. I told him that for us to really work well together, things needed to be more balanced. It felt like he always got his way – seriously, like 90% of the time! Now that we’re working side-by-side daily, I explained that things needed to shift, and I needed to have a say too. I even joked that my ‘way’ would have to be after dark!
She said she needed to take out her retainer. He was wearing nasal strips. She joked that they looked awful and she was already dreading how she’d feel about it all the next morning.

Mark, who has three children with Kelly – Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 22 – has said his views on the matter have evolved.
He confessed on a March episode of Live that the job had unexpectedly prevented him from pursuing something else, and had actually been the solution to a problem he was facing.

Kelly Ripa jokingly complained on her show, Live! With Kelly, back in February 2017, that her husband, Mark Consuelos, becomes irritable after they spend intimate time together. She said he gets short-tempered and she finds it strange. Although she claimed it was a joke, Mark felt the need to respond when the comment became a trending news story. He playfully defended himself by saying someone can’t be mean if they’re unconscious – implying he often falls asleep! Kelly then clarified she didn’t mean ‘mean’ exactly, but rather that he seems completely disinterested, like he’s already asleep.

Kelly Ripa jokes that her kids – Michael, Lola, and Joaquin Consuelos – are careful about what they look at online. She recalls an instance in 2019 when Mark Consuelos announced he’d be managing the Instagram account for his show, Riverdale, and Kelly playfully responded, “Daddy, I love when you take over.” This is just one reason why Kelly believes her children have made an effort to remove any trace of them from social media. In an April 2023 interview, Kelly stated she’s sure her kids have blocked any social media account that mentions their family, going to great lengths to avoid seeing posts about them.

Kelly Clarkson shared some old Halloween photos in 2020, including one of her husband, Mark, and his friend Bruce Bozzi dressed as CHiPs officers. Mark’s outfit was particularly noticeable, and he jokingly suggested a shadow was causing a certain… bulge. Kelly playfully questioned if he was actually seeing shadows. Later, on the show Daily Pop, host Justin Sylvester brought it up, implying it was a reason for their long marriage. Kelly agreed it wasn’t the only reason, but definitely one of the top three!

Kelly jokingly admitted she now meticulously checks every family photo before posting it online, a habit she developed after the overwhelming response to their Halloween pictures. When a commenter noticed she seemed very selective with photos from a 2020 vacation, Kelly playfully responded that it was a surprisingly time-consuming and restrictive process, though she wasn’t actually upset about it.

After nearly 30 years of marriage and raising three children, Kelly revealed the key to her lasting relationship: “Love and intimacy,” she shared on the show Live! in 2021.
Mark and Kelly revealed a personal way they cope with stress while discussing the show Scenes From a Marriage when Mark filled in as a guest co-host.
Kelly was describing the drama they were watching and said it wouldn’t happen in her marriage to Mark Consuelos. She explained that Mark would quickly address any issues, saying he’d immediately step in to comfort anyone upset, help with anything they were struggling with, or support them if they were feeling overwhelmed. She said Mark resolves everything with – before he interrupted with, ‘Love!’ Kelly clarified, ‘Love and intimacy,’ though Mark playfully protested that wasn’t true for everything, she insisted it was ‘pretty much everything.’

Kelly admits she’s not a fan of morning intimacy, telling the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast that she finds it “disgusting,” while Mark prefers to have sex first thing in the morning. She’s made it clear to him that they need to find a balance. “It can’t always be your way,” she explained. “It feels like 90 percent of the time it is, and now that we work together every day, it’s going to have to sometimes be my way – and that’s at night only.” Luckily, their early morning work schedule on Live has unintentionally solved the problem. She jokes that the job has almost cured him of wanting morning sex during the week, which she considers a “miracle.”

Okay, so Kelly posted this amazing photo wearing a sparkly rainbow sweatshirt with ‘More Glitter, Less Twitter’ on it, and Mark… well, he definitely had a reaction! He jokingly questioned whether the first letter on her shirt was a ‘G’ or a ‘C’, claiming he was ‘asking for a friend.’ It was a pretty cheeky comment, and honestly, it totally fit his personality. As a fan, I found it hilarious – he always knows how to get a reaction!

Kelly Clarkson jokingly reminisced about the fun she had conceiving her son Joaquin! When her husband, Mark, posted a sweet 18th birthday message for Joaquin on Instagram, Kelly replied with a playful comment about making him. Mark then added that this “making” happened during a trip to Montreal.

During a September 2022 episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen playfully asked his friend Kelly if there were any places they hadn’t been intimate. Kelly readily admitted to several locations, including a public bathroom and during their time together on All My Children, even on a boat – a fact Cohen jokingly pointed out, suggesting Kelly used to be intimate on that boat near his house. While Cohen teased that, judging by their public displays of affection, it’s hard to believe there’s anywhere they haven’t been intimate, Kelly revealed a few places remain untouched: a car ride to an event, a department store dressing room, and the set of their talk show.

Kelly jokingly revealed she’d go to funny lengths to look her best during video calls with her then-partner, Mark. During the pandemic, while she was in New York City for work and he was filming Riverdale in Vancouver, she shared on her March 2023 podcast, Let’s Talk Off Camera, that they had playful and elaborate intimate routines. Concerned about how she looked on FaceTime, she even propped her laptop up on a ladder to create a more flattering angle and hide the effects of gravity.

Kelly Ripa made a joke about the scandal involving former GMA3 co-hosts Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, who had a romantic relationship that led to their departure from the show. She said she and her husband, Mark Consuelos, are avoiding any similar issues now that he’s joined her as a co-host on Live. On Watch What Happens Live in April 2023, Kelly playfully stated they’ve “taken a vow of chastity” while working together, because ABC doesn’t want its on-screen talent getting involved romantically. She jokingly promised there would be “no banging on the side.”

After their youngest son, Joaquin, went to college in 2021, Kelly and her husband, Mark, adjusted to having an empty house. As Kelly explained to TopMob News in June 2023, they’d become accustomed to freely moving around and leaving doors unlocked. But when their daughter, Lola, returned from London, they had to start locking up again, and the same thing happened when Joaquin came home for the summer. Things got even more complicated when Kelly’s parents moved in with them for a while, forcing the couple to find creative ways to have some privacy. “You wouldn’t believe what we had to do,” she joked.

When Lola moved home to finish college, she started walking in on her parents without knocking, which they wanted to stop. In typical Mark fashion, he playfully warned their daughter about what she might find if she continued to enter their room unannounced.
During a January 2023 episode of Live, Mark joked, “Be warned Lola Conseulos. ‘Cause this week’s freaky week, isn’t it?” Kelly playfully asked why this week was special, and Mark simply replied with a smile, “It is now.”
He and Kelly explained that Mark had talked to Lola about her habit of barging in. He told her, “I don’t want you to take this the wrong way. I’m so happy you’re home, we’ve missed you, and you’re amazing. But you really need to knock first.”
