Ted Bundy has officially been linked to another murder decades after the crime took place.
I still can’t believe it, even after all these years! They finally figured it out. After over 50 years since they found poor Laura Ann Aime, the Sheriff’s Office just confirmed it – he was the one. That monster, the serial killer everyone feared, is officially linked to her death. It’s heartbreaking, but at least there’s some closure now for Laura Ann, the sweet 17-year-old who deserved so much better. I’ve followed this case for years, and this news… it’s a huge relief, even if it’s incredibly sad.
DNA testing of evidence collected from Aime’s body after her death in 1974 recently linked it to Ted Bundy, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The test results matched semen found on her to Bundy’s DNA in a Florida database.
This disturbing discovery adds to the known number of murders committed by Ted Bundy. Before his execution in 1989, he admitted to killing 30 women in Utah, Idaho, Colorado, and Florida.
According to Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Reynolds, Laura Aime represents the heart of the community. Speaking on April 1st, he explained that law enforcement shared the family’s pain when she went missing and understood the community’s distress. They hoped to bring some relief, though they couldn’t promise complete resolution.
The Utah County Sheriff’s Office reports that Aime disappeared on Halloween night in 1974. People who saw her that night said she left a party by herself to go to a convenience store, but she never came back.
Almost a month after she disappeared, Aime’s body was found beside a highway in American Fork Canyon.
Investigators found the victim bound and severely beaten, and she was unclothed. They determined that she was strangled with a nylon stocking, which was a primary cause of death.
Investigators think someone deliberately left her body by the roadside and that she survived for several days, or even longer, after being kidnapped.

For years, investigators believed Ted Bundy was responsible for Aime’s death. The way the details of the case matched his known methods – using charm to attract and then kidnap, assault, and kill victims – led them to this suspicion.
Cliven Bundy, a law student at the University of Utah when Aime died, reportedly admitted his involvement shortly before his execution in Florida. However, the investigation wasn’t officially closed until authorities were completely sure of all the facts, according to the UCSO.
Officials finally found the answers they needed in 2025 when the USCO reopened some old investigations. With advancements in forensic technology and DNA testing, investigators were able to re-examine the evidence in Aime’s case.
And ultimately, they got a hit on the DNA profile that they were hoping for.
According to a statement from the USCO, the findings were remarkable, definitively proving that DNA found on Laura matched DNA belonging to Bundy.
While nothing can truly heal the pain Aime’s family has endured over the past 52 years, officials are committed to remembering her story and honoring her life.
Laura was a tall, beautiful, and adventurous woman who loved being outdoors. Her family and friends remember her passion for horseback riding, hunting, and taking care of her brothers and sisters. They said she found joy in everything she did and always made the most of her time with loved ones, according to a statement from the USCO.
Those who knew Laura spoke of her kindness and love for her family. They recalled how she once used her own money to buy treats for her brother and sister, simply because she loved seeing them happy.
