Fans are excited for the return of Black Clover in 2026, with Studio Pierrot set to revive the anime after a long hiatus. Before the anime comes back, though, the manga might finish its run, bringing Asta’s story to a close. Although the exact date for the final manga chapter hasn’t been announced, Weekly Shonen Jump recently shared news about the series’ exciting climax, which could hint at when the story will end.
Next month, on May 1st, a new chapter of Black Clover will be released in Shonen Jump as part of a special event called “Super Climax.” Although it’s not being advertised as the very end of the series, this chapter could potentially be the last one featuring Asta and his world. The series will also be featured on the cover of the “Jump GIGA 2026 SPRING” magazine issue, complete with a full-color page. To add to the excitement, Shonen Jump will include an interview with Gakuto Kajiwara, the voice actor who plays Asta, potentially offering anime fans some updates on the anime adaptation alongside the new chapter.
Why This Might Be Black Clover’s End
The newest chapter of Black Clover, number 389, shows that Asta and Yuno successfully defeated Lucius Zogratis, leading to a celebration among the Magic Knights. Julius Novachrono acknowledged their incredible achievement and awarded them the recognition they earned. Now that the main villain is gone, the story can focus on the aftermath of the battle and hint at what’s next for Asta and Yuno. While a new Wizard King hasn’t been chosen yet, Asta, Yuno, or another hero from the final fight could take the position. We may find out who it will be next month, before Black Clover concludes.
Yuki Tabata began creating the Black Clover manga in 2015, and it quickly became a major hit in Weekly Shonen Jump. It’s natural that the story would be adapted into an anime, but Studio Pierrot has been slow to continue the adaptation. They’ve said they prefer to focus on seasonal anime releases, and with the return of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War this year, it explains why there’s a five-year gap between the previous Black Clover anime episodes and the new ones.
