Just before its release on April 6th, Star Wars announced it’s continuing the Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord series. The show follows Darth Maul, formerly the apprentice of Palpatine (also known as Darth Sidious), and takes place immediately after Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith during the turbulent ‘Dark Times’ period in the Star Wars universe.
Dave Filoni, head of Lucasfilm, has announced that Star Wars’ new show will be back for a second season, according to the official Star Wars website. Details about the next season are still a mystery, mostly because the first season hasn’t even launched yet. The show will begin streaming on Disney+ with a two-episode premiere on April 6th.
Okay, so the big picture for Shadow Lord season one is still pretty under wraps, but we’re starting to get a few intriguing pieces. The trailer and recent teasers confirm that Darth Maul isn’t working alone – he’s taken on a Force-sensitive apprentice. Even more interesting? This apprentice, a young woman named Devon Izara, actually survived the devastating Order 66 purge. That adds a whole layer of complexity to her story and her relationship with Maul, and honestly, I’m already hooked.
When Devon was announced, many fans immediately wondered if she might be Darth Talon, a Sith apprentice they’ve been eager to see appear in Star Wars. This request goes back to the time after the original sequel trilogy was planned, as George Lucas had apparently envisioned Darth Maul and Darth Talon as the villains before Disney acquired the franchise.
Although initially thought to be Darth Talon, Star Wars has confirmed that isn’t the case. However, it looks like Maul and Devon will be developing a mentor-student relationship, and some fans still hope this could lead to a darker path for the Twi’lek character.
As a huge fan, I always knew Darth Maul’s story had a tragic end – Star Wars Rebels showed us years ago that he ultimately falls to Obi-Wan on Tatooine during a dark period. Because of that, I’m really curious to see what this Shadow Lord arc will actually be about, especially since we know he doesn’t have much time left. It’s a fascinating challenge for the writers, and I’m excited to see how they handle it!
As a huge Star Wars fan, I’ve been really intrigued by what we’ve seen of Maul lately. His quick appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story and the bits from the Shadow Lord series suggest he’s actually become a pretty successful crime boss – which honestly feels like a natural progression for his character. But the trailer for Shadow Lord? That’s what really got my attention – it starts with Palpatine’s voice, and that hints at some seriously interesting connections and power plays to come!
A recent post on the official Star Wars Instagram account revealed Palpatine telling Darth Maul he’s been replaced. This suggests the next story involving Maul will continue directly from where Star Wars: The Clone Wars ended – with Maul feeling angry, betrayed, and seeking revenge after being abandoned by Palpatine.
As a huge Star Wars fan, I’m thrilled to hear that we’re getting more of Maul’s story! It’s official – Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord is coming back for another season, and honestly, there’s so much potential left to explore with that character’s journey.
Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord debuts with a two-episode premiere on Disney+ on April 6.
