DreamWorks Animation isn’t just about movies; TV shows are a major part of their plan. Many of their popular films and franchises, like How to Train Your Dragon and Trolls, have also been made into TV series. Netflix is now involved too, releasing several adaptations and recently bringing back new episodes of a spin-off series based on one of DreamWorks’ biggest hits.
DreamWorks’ The Bad Guys has been a major hit, and the popular crew of animal criminals recently returned in The Bad Guys 2 (2025). Now, Netflix has expanded the universe with the spinoff series The Bad Guys: The Series. Season 2 of the show premiered on April 2nd, with all ten episodes available to stream. The series is a prequel, showing Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Ms. Tarantula, Mr. Shark, and Mr. Piranha as they first attempt – often unsuccessfully – to become notorious bad guys.
Netflix’s The Bad Guys: The Series Is a Fun Prequel for Fans of the Movies
I absolutely loved seeing the Bad Guys cause so much fun chaos in the movies, and I’m really enjoying this new series on Netflix! It’s a fantastic look at how they first came together and learned to work as a team. We get to see them honing their skills and building those awesome relationships that made us love them in the first place. Plus, the show is full of exciting, fast-paced heists that are just pure, lighthearted fun – it’s a great way to see where it all began!
While The Bad Guys: The Series might not be quite as good as the movies, it’s still a fantastic addition to the world of The Bad Guys. Many viewers on Rotten Tomatoes have called it a “fast, fun prequel” and said they really enjoyed it. Season 2 doesn’t have widespread reviews yet, but it looks like it will deliver everything fans loved about the first season. This season focuses on the crew enjoying their newfound fame and moving into a cool new headquarters, all while dealing with a visit from Mr. Wolf’s former teacher.
Will There Be a The Bad Guys: The Series Season 3?
It’s still unclear whether The Bad Guys: The Series will return for a third season. There hasn’t been an official announcement yet, leaving the show’s future uncertain. While the Bad Guys movies have been popular – especially with The Bad Guys 2 currently ranking as a top streaming hit for kids on Netflix – fans will need to wait to see if the series is renewed.
