A classic Nintendo Game Boy game is making a comeback with an updated version! It will be available digitally on PC, Nintendo Switch, and PS5 on April 7th. Fans can also pre-order a limited-edition physical copy starting April 3rd.
In 2005, WayForward and Namco created Sigma Star Saga, a unique shoot ’em up RPG for the Game Boy. Now, on April 7th, an updated version—not a complete remake—called Sigma Star Saga DX will be available on other platforms. Limited Run Games is releasing a special edition of this enhanced version for dedicated fans and those who remember the original game.
New Release for the Most Nostalgic Game Boy Advance Fans
Limited Run Games is launching pre-orders for the Sigma Star Series DX on April 3rd. There will be two versions for both PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch: a Standard Edition and a Classic Edition. The Standard Edition costs $34.99 and includes the game and a booklet. The Classic Edition is priced at $70 and comes with special Game Boy Advance-style packaging, a poster, a keychain, collectible coins, and the game’s soundtrack on CD.
As a big fan, I’m really excited about the physical and special editions of Sigma Star Saga DX, but honestly, we don’t know when those will actually ship yet. Pre-orders close on May 3rd, but knowing Limited Run Games, they could sell out way before then! It’s not a super mainstream Game Boy Advance title – most Limited Run releases are pretty specialized – so quantities are likely limited. Plus, you often have to wait a long time for the physical versions to arrive, even after the digital game is already out. So, if you want to play Sigma Star Saga DX anytime soon, or even at launch, I’d recommend grabbing the digital version right away.
