How Much Money Did Age of Attraction Stars Get Paid? The Truth

Sometimes, there’s more to life than numbers.

Viewers of Netflix’s Age of Attraction were curious if the show’s participants received payment, and that question was answered during the reunion special. Host Nick Viall and contestant Chris Dahlan – who split from Leah Woolfolk, 51, at the end of the first season – discussed whether or not the cast was paid.

“I just really wanted to be home,” the 26-year-old shared on the April 1st episode of The Viall Files. “The money and the effort weren’t important—being on camera was.”

It was then that Nick interjected and asked, “What money?”

Chris said dismissively, “It doesn’t matter what it is. You’re getting paid for being on television, and all the other stuff isn’t important now.”

Okay, so things were getting a little tense, but I just HAD to think about how Nick was totally right! He pointed out, and I was screaming it internally, that Chris was the one who started talking about that thing! Like, Chris opened that can of worms, and Nick was just politely asking about it – it was all Chris’s doing, honestly!

“Just your words, man,” he said. “I’m just asking you questions.”

Chris was actually trying to emphasize how strongly he felt about leaving the show, as he explained.

He trailed off, seemingly lost for words, but emphasized, “It doesn’t matter why we’re here; I just can’t do this anymore, and I’m really having a hard time.” The following day was incredibly tough for everyone involved.

Nick took the opportunity to clarify whether the cast of Age of Attraction were paid for their appearances, in case anyone watching got the wrong idea from previous discussions.

Just to clarify for everyone watching or listening, only my wife, Natalie Joy, and I were compensated. Everyone else genuinely came wanting to connect with others and find common ground.

Ahead of the reunion episode, Netflix announced that it had picked up the show for a second season.

Just to clarify for everyone watching or listening, no one involved received payment except for my wife, Natalie Joy, and me. It was really encouraging to see so many people genuinely wanting to connect with others and find common ground.

Ahead of the reunion episode, Netflix announced that it had picked up the show for a second season.

Executive producers Jennifer O’Connell and Rebecca Quinn said they were immediately captivated by the show’s unique premise. In a statement released on March 31st, they described it as “messy and real,” which is what makes it so engaging. They also expressed gratitude to Netflix for supporting the dating experiment, noting the incredible response from viewers and their excitement for a second season to build on that success.

Find out what happened with the couples from season one – including Derrick Fleming and Pfeifer Hill, Theresa Demaria and John Merrill, and Libby Vodicka and Andrew Wheeler – after the finale of Age of Attraction.

Even though there was a 20-year age difference, Pfeifer chose to move from Seattle to Dallas to attempt a relationship with the father of two, a decision she described as a sacrifice.

She told him at their commitment ceremony that finding him felt like the greatest luck. ‘So many people search their whole lives for something like this,’ she said. ‘I would be heartbroken if I left here without you, and I might regret it forever.’

A year later, Derrick went to the reunion alone. He explained that it proved too difficult for Pfeifer to relocate across the country, and they ended their relationship about a month after the show was filmed.

He found out she lived near a lot of college fraternities and sororities when he mailed her things from Dallas to Seattle. He commented that she was still living a college lifestyle, but was about to start a very different life, helping to raise a five-year-old. He thought it was a big change.

Theresa received a supportive letter from her three grown children, which gave her the confidence to move forward with her relationship despite the age difference (she was 54, he was 27). Knowing her family approved made facing any criticism worthwhile, and they decided to pursue their relationship.

“It makes me feel a lot more confident and happy to know that they wrote that to you. I had no idea what it said. And so, I don’t want to walk away,” she told him, adding in a confessional, “It’s the connection that counts—not the candles on the cake.”

During a reunion episode set to air in April 2026, the couple announced they had broken up. Theresa explained that John’s sister and another person from the show made her feel self-conscious about getting older. She said these feelings overwhelmed her, and John wasn’t able to offer the support she needed.

Theresa explained she really needed support and encouragement, but didn’t receive it. John agreed, adding that their age wasn’t the problem unless they focused on it, and that Theresa felt self-conscious about being seen in public and people noticing them.

Okay, so Vanessa was so into Logan, practically begging him to let her sweep him off his feet and share her life with him. But honestly? He was being such a baby! He kept saying things like he wasn’t sure he was good enough for her just because of an age gap! Twenty years? Please! It was like he was scared of what people would think, and it totally broke my heart for her. He was being so hesitant, it was infuriating!

He asked for the promise ring back on Commitment Day, explaining he was unsure if their relationship was good for them – if it was healthy or harmful.

Once they removed the rings, Logan was finally prepared to commit to her and unexpectedly proposed.

He described their journey together as an exciting and unpredictable one, but expressed his commitment to continuing it. He passionately told her, ‘I love you very much.’ He believes she deserves all the best things in life, and specifically mentioned she deserves to be recognized with a Kobe Bryant championship ring.

He proposed with an engagement ring, asking her to spend the rest of her life with him, and she happily accepted. This will be her fifth time getting engaged.

They were still engaged in the April 2026 reunion.

Logan said they weren’t planning a wedding just yet, preferring to live together first. They were considering where to settle – either in Dallas, Ohio (where he’d been checking job opportunities), or a completely new location.

Chris, 15 years younger than Leah, ended the relationship because he felt overwhelmed by her constant desire to be with him.

We’ve discussed our differing views and were upfront about what we each expect in a relationship. It seems we both ultimately want a family and to settle down, but maybe on different timelines. He felt the age gap created unnecessary pressure, making it difficult for him to be himself – something he hadn’t experienced before.

As he put it, “That’s why ultimately, I feel that this partnership is not right.”

So, how did Leah react to the breakup?

I’ve always wanted someone to choose me, but I wasn’t going to lower myself to ask for it. I also realized I can’t change anyone into something they’re not. I came to this retreat hoping to find love, but it didn’t happen. Ultimately, I discovered a lot about myself – I’m a strong, smart, and beautiful woman, and whoever I end up with will be lucky to have me.

Okay, so Andrew – he’s amazing, but he was being all worried about me, saying he didn’t want to hold me back from having fun in my twenties. Can you believe it? I had to tell him, and it just came out, that he wouldn’t change my life, he’d just…make it even better. Like, he’d be an extra sparkle, you know? He’s sixteen years older than me, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. It just felt so right to say he’d only add to my life, not take anything away.

“It feels like it’s finally my time to be happy, like something good is really happening,” he told her. “I know I sound a little silly, but I’ve been thinking about where things could go from here. I’m not sure what people call it now—like, officially becoming a couple—but I’d really like to start dating you.”

Libby agreed, with the pair making plans for her to go to Baltimore to meet his daughters.

I was so happy to see they were still together at the April 2026 reunion! It wasn’t easy, though – they were making it work long distance, with plans to eventually both move to Florida. He was also hoping to spend some time back in Baltimore, so it would be a bit of back and forth, but they were committed to making it work.

She hadn’t yet met his children, and Andrew explained they were still working out how to manage the distance between them before introducing them.

He described the relationship as still feeling new and exciting, explaining that they only see each other once a month. He added that they haven’t had a chance to see how things work when they’re together for extended periods, dealing with the everyday realities of life.

Despite a significant age difference – he was 33 years older than her – the couple didn’t last until the final Commitment Day. They broke up while still living together, due to conflicts about Vanelle choosing to remain celibate and an incident where Jorge argued with someone in public.

However, she noted, “I don’t necessarily think it has anything to do with his age.”

Vanelle explained that misunderstandings with Jorge stemmed from a lack of clear communication about their boundaries. They admitted that despite having romantic moments, they didn’t discuss what those meant in terms of staying abstinent, which led to confusion for Jorge.

He confessed he still had feelings for her, saying their connection was incredibly deep. She agreed, admitting she’d felt as though he was already her husband, and that no one else mattered.
