Lizzo is feeling good as hell—and is sharing the latest reason why.
Lizzo shared on Instagram that she’s been sober for two months. She posted a meme on April 2nd featuring a spooky face and a caption explaining that people seem to think it’s fun to get her drunk, but she actually comes across as intimidating when she’s had alcohol.
As for the vibe in question? The animated person in the video says, “I feel terrible.”
Alongside the meme, Lizzo added in her own note, “2 months, no alcohol.”
Lizzo stopped drinking alcohol in January and has been open about her wellness journey recently. She discussed how important exercise has become to her in 2025.
The 37-year-old shared with Women’s Health that they’ve never been sorry they exercised. They always feel improved afterward, prioritizing workouts for their mental well-being, and consider exercise a fantastic way to boost their mood.
She’s also changed her relationship with food.
Lizzo remembers times when she’d overeat to the point of physical pain. Afterward, she felt so uncomfortable she struggled to breathe, but kept it to herself and hid how she felt.
She explained that she struggled with constant thoughts about food and used eating to cope with her feelings. Whenever she felt sad, worried, stressed, or overwhelmed with work, she would constantly snack and eat.
Beyond her workouts, she also made lasting, healthy changes to her everyday life.

The artist, a Grammy winner, described finding a healthy balance in life. They explained that being able to enjoy things without going overboard is key, and they feel proud of the progress they’ve made in achieving that.
At any point in her health journey, though, Lizzo is committed to loving herself where she’s at.
She also said it’s normal to regain some weight after losing it, and emphasized that she doesn’t want to be criticized if her body changes in the future.

In October 2018, the actor known for American Pie shared on Instagram that he had been sober for a year, marking the occasion with a positive and uplifting message.
He first attempted to stop drinking and using drugs more than five years ago, realizing his addiction had become overwhelming. He quickly discovered that getting sober was incredibly difficult.
He shared that after a difficult journey, he’s been sober for a year, and he’s incredibly proud of this accomplishment. He encouraged anyone who is struggling to reach out for help, reminding them that there’s no shame in asking and that recovery is possible.
Looking back on his battle with addiction, he thought about how far he’d gone to keep it a secret.
He shared on his wife Jenny Mollen’s podcast, All the Fails, that he was in a difficult cycle. Despite attending therapy and feeling good after a session in March 2024, he would often immediately go to the liquor store, buy a bottle of vodka, drink it, and then drive home. He admitted he did this to escape his feelings and disconnect from reality, essentially removing himself from his own life.
He explained that he’d carefully planned how much to drink, making sure he stayed coherent enough to talk. He mentioned he was constantly swapping out the bar’s bottles, likely to control his alcohol intake.

The two-time World Cup-winning soccer player has publicly discussed using Adderall inappropriately while recovering from injuries during her time playing college soccer.
She shared on the 2025 podcast Question Everything with Danielle Robay that she had become seriously addicted to Adderall and was using it in dangerous ways. She explained she was taking it constantly, often going for days without sleep. It was a chaotic time, and she worried about causing serious health problems like a heart attack. She admitted to crushing and snorting the pills, acknowledging it was a very harmful pattern.
However, in the midst of her struggle, her college coach Anson Dorrance was there to support her.
She described a difficult time where she had to adapt significantly. Anson encouraged her to read, and she found a life-changing book called Man’s Search for Meaning. It helped her understand and cope with suffering by offering a new perspective.

In October 2025, Migos member Quavo revealed he had been sober from codeine—an opioid often used in the drink known as sizzurp—for four years. He credited a serious conversation with his teenage son, Jordan, as the turning point that led him to get clean.
Offset shared a story on the Baby, This Is Keke Palmer show about his son repeatedly asking for pineapple Fanta, even though he rarely drinks soda. What really struck Offset was when his son noticed the color of his Fanta was different and asked why, which Offset found incredibly touching.
Offset explained that the seemingly harmless comment really bothered him, adding, “I almost cried when I went back to my room.”
As a dad, it really hit me hard. My son has no idea I’m struggling with substance use, and that’s honestly a huge relief, but it also adds to the guilt. Even something as simple as him wanting the same drink as me makes me worry – am I unknowingly influencing him? It’s a constant internal battle, wanting him to be happy and healthy while also grappling with my own issues.

The Academy Award-winning actor has often openly discussed December 29, 1975, the date he stopped drinking.
In an October 2025 interview on The Interview podcast from the New York Times, he admitted he was driving drunk in California and completely blacked out. He had no idea where he was going until he realized the danger he posed to others—and even himself, which he said he didn’t care about at the time—leading him to recognize he had a problem with alcohol.
I was SO thrilled to hear he was turning things around, finally getting the help he needed from a friend. And then, December 2025… fifty years! Fifty years sober! It just blew me away. But even better? He didn’t just celebrate privately. He sent out a message, a lifeline, to anyone struggling like he did all those years ago. It was incredible, honestly. Knowing he wanted to pay it forward… it just cemented him as a total inspiration.
He urged people to embrace life in an Instagram message, repeating the word ‘life’ multiple times to emphasize his point: ‘Choose life instead of the opposite. Life, life, life, and even more life!’

The Valley star shared his decades-long battle with drugs in March 2025 after going to rehab.
Jax revealed on the March 4th episode of Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast that he’s struggling with addiction, specifically with cocaine. He admitted it was difficult to share this publicly.
He explained that he’s been struggling with this issue intermittently since he was 23, and now, at 45, it continues. He’d sometimes manage to stop, but other times would find himself doing it a lot.
Jax stopped drinking and using cocaine at the same time. He explained that while he wasn’t sure he had a drinking problem, he always used cocaine with alcohol, so he decided to quit both. He’s proud to have been sober for over 82 days – the longest stretch of his life without either substance.

Tom Holland, known for his role as Spider-Man, quit drinking in 2022 because he felt controlled by alcohol. He admitted on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast that he was addicted. “I was definitely addicted to alcohol, and I’m not afraid to say that,” Holland shared. He believes that having a beer every day could be a sign of a problem.
The actor explained that you eventually hit a point where you regret having one too many drinks. Then, you wake up with a really bad headache the next morning.
After adopting a new lifestyle, Holland found he was sleeping more soundly and coping with challenges more effectively.
He explained that he was much calmer and more able to handle problems on set. He felt mentally clear, healthier, and in better physical shape.

Sean Connery, famous for his role in Hunt for Red October, rarely discusses his recovery, which started nearly forty years ago.
He revealed in a May 2024 podcast interview that he doesn’t often talk about his sobriety, only mentioning it when relevant. He shared that he’s been sober for 39 years, since February 23, 1985.
Alec described a difficult period after his move from New York to Los Angeles in 1983. He admitted to a severe cocaine addiction, saying he used it constantly for two years – so much so that he felt he could have reached Saturn with the amount he consumed. He explained that cocaine use was widespread at the time, almost as common as drinking coffee.
And after quitting the drug, he soon turned to alcohol—only to also quit that dependency.
Today, he relies on the city around him.
He finds New York City incredibly relaxing. He loves simply walking around and discovering new details he’s never noticed before – like interesting features on buildings he’s passed countless times. He also enjoys spending time with friends over lunch or coffee.

In April 2024, Anne Hathaway, known for her role in The Princess Diaries, revealed she’s been sober for over five years. She told The New York Times that reaching this point felt like a significant achievement.
She explained her decision simply. “I realized I wasn’t interested,” she said. “It felt odd to have to explain that I didn’t want any at all. But it’s like an allergy – if you have a severe reaction, you don’t try to push through it. So I decided to stop questioning my feelings.”
She’s glad she made the change, explaining that things have improved significantly for her. She described her previous state as getting stuck in negativity, something she actively avoids.

When accepting the 2018 Woman of the Year Award from the Peggy Albrecht Friendly House—a program helping women recover from substance and alcohol abuse—Moore discussed how a damaging lifestyle almost ended her career.
I believe we all have key moments that shape our lives and future. Early in my career, I was heading down a very destructive path. Despite any success I achieved, I constantly felt inadequate and had very little self-worth. This quickly led to a crisis, and at the time, I wasn’t sure why it was happening – it almost felt like something bigger was at play.
In 2012, seeking help, Moore expressed gratitude to two people she hardly knew who essentially challenged her to change her life. She joked they told her, “Unless I was dead, I better show up,” and explained they gave her “a chance to get back on track before I ruined everything.”
Moore reflected that others recognized potential in her that she hadn’t seen in herself. She expressed deep gratitude for their belief in her, saying she wouldn’t be where she was today without it.

Miley Cyrus revealed in 2022 that she’s been overcoming an addiction to Xanax since 2020. She told Rolling Stone that recovery provided much-needed stability during a difficult time. “It helped me stay focused and gave me something positive to work towards,” she explained.
The singer explained that once they discovered a way to briefly block out feelings and escape the pain, it was all over – meaning they’d lost something important.
Looking back, I remember her talking about how her friends at the time didn’t really discourage her from using, and she described it as falling into a really dark, endless hole. Then, when the pandemic hit, she started realizing things were getting seriously out of control. She told me she was constantly nodding off, completely exhausted, and just couldn’t stay awake or even keep her head up – she was just so lost in it all.
She eventually sought help and noted that “it took some time to get on my own two feet.”

In his 2025 documentary, Stans, Eminem opened up about his past struggles with prescription pills. He revealed that an overdose and missing his daughter Hailie Jade’s birthday were turning points that led him to change his life.
He explained that he became emotional realizing he was on the verge of repeating a past mistake. He described a harsh internal monologue, repeatedly asking himself if he really wanted to miss out on life again. He pushed himself to act, even if he couldn’t do it for his own sake, urging himself to do it for the people he cared about.
Focusing on making music again was a key part of the Oscar winner’s recovery from addiction.
He described how it activated a light. This made him realize he wasn’t ashamed of being sober anymore. Instead, he began to see his sobriety as a strength, and he felt proud of overcoming his addiction.

As someone who’s followed many journeys of personal growth, I’ve learned that setbacks can happen even after long periods of success. For me, after 16 years of sobriety, I experienced a relapse in 2020. It started after a motorcycle accident when I began taking Vicodin for the pain.
Lately, I’ve been exploring different approaches to managing my well-being, and that’s included using prescription medication. I’m working with my doctor, of course, and we’ve found a dosage that’s appropriate for me. I’m also supplementing that with other things to really optimize how I’m feeling. It’s all about finding what works best for a balanced life, and I’m being very intentional about it.
He went on, admitting he hated his situation and was keeping it hidden from everyone. He knew he needed to stop, but his tolerance was increasing so fast that he was now using eight pills a day. He realized this meant a severe withdrawal was likely, and he was becoming increasingly scared and isolated, burdened by a huge secret.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always believed in being open about personal journeys, and Jamie Lee Curtis recently shared a truly brave one. She revealed that she battled an opiate addiction for a full decade, starting in the late 80s. It all began after a relatively minor cosmetic procedure – she wanted to address some hereditary puffiness around her eyes. That simple surgery led to a prescription that unfortunately altered the course of her life. She confessed to People magazine that for ten years, she was secretly struggling, even resorting to stealing and manipulation to feed her addiction. It was a completely hidden battle – she says no one around her had any idea what she was going through.
In the summer of 1998, when her sister came to visit, Curtis reached her lowest point. Her sister had brought prescription painkillers for a broken rib, and Curtis admitted to taking them all. She confessed to the publication, tears welling up as she recalled the memory, that she knew her sister would discover the missing pills before leaving. Curtis wrote her a note admitting what she’d done and left it with her suitcase. When she returned home that day, her sister embraced her, expressing her love and concern, and saying she couldn’t bear to watch Curtis destroy herself.
Jamie Lee Curtis went to her first support group meeting on February 3, 1999, and that same day, she told her husband, filmmaker Christopher Guest, about her struggles with substance use. She explained that he was surprised he hadn’t realized she was going through this, and she has been sober ever since.

Drew Barrymore, who has previously sought treatment for substance use, revealed in 2021 that she had reached a significant point in her recovery. Speaking on CBS Mornings, she shared that she’d been sober for two and a half years, explaining that alcohol simply wasn’t beneficial to her life.
It’s amazing how freeing and nerve-wracking it feels to finally share who we are, what we believe in, and everything we’ve achieved.
Okay, so Drew told the Los Angeles Times something that just… gets me. She doesn’t like being called ‘sober’ because she doesn’t want anyone to assume she’s suddenly become this, like, flawless saint or something! It’s brilliant, honestly. She’s still Drew, you know? She’s not trying to be perfect, just… herself. It’s so refreshing and real, and it makes me love her even more!
In 2023, she explained that she used to tell herself, ‘I can learn this, I can solve this.’ But she eventually came to a different conclusion: ‘I’m not going to master this, and that’s okay.’

Bradley Cooper battled a cocaine addiction in the early 2000s. His friend, Will Arnett, helped him by directly addressing the issue and confronting him about his struggles.
Cooper shared in a 2022 podcast interview that it was the first time he truly understood he was struggling with substance use. He said he’ll never forget that moment of realization.
Cooper explained that Arnett’s honest conversation was the turning point that led him to get sober and change his life. He called Arnett “the reason” he made that decision.

Edward Norton credits Bradley Cooper with helping him overcome a long struggle with alcohol. Accepting an award from Cooper at the 2020 National Board of Review Annual Awards, Norton shared that he’s been sober thanks to Cooper’s support, and has been happier every day since.

In September 2023, the former Cruel Intentions star revealed on Instagram that they had gone longer without using nicotine or marijuana—or any other substances—than they had since their teenage years.
He expressed gratitude for overcoming addiction and dependency, saying that achieving sobriety brings a sense of clarity and a deeper spiritual connection, which feels incredibly good.

In 2018, the singer celebrated six years of being sober while on tour. However, she surprised her fans later that year with the release of her song “Sober,” in which she admitted to having struggled with relapse.
Singing with regret, she apologized to her parents for her drinking, acknowledging past mistakes and asking for forgiveness. She also expressed gratitude to those who had stayed by her side through difficult times, admitting she had fallen back into old patterns.
A month later, Lovato was hospitalized for a near-fatal overdose.
She shared on Instagram a couple of weeks ago that she’s always been open about her struggles with addiction. She explained that it’s an ongoing battle, not something that simply goes away. She needs time to focus on healing and getting better, and she’s grateful for all the support she’s received. She’s hopeful for the future and determined to continue fighting for her sobriety.

In 2018, she spoke about her past struggles with sex and alcohol addiction. She explained that her addictions tended to shift over time, and when she was younger, she believed sex could solve any problem. She then described realizing she had developed a serious issue with drinking.
She recalled a moment when she was home alone and realized she was nearly finishing her third bottle of wine. That’s when she stopped and thought, ‘This isn’t good. Drinking this much alone could be a sign of a problem.’
I just completely cut it off, went cold turkey. That’s just how I am, though – I can do that. I tend to get totally consumed by things, a real binger, so I always have to be careful. It’s not necessarily what I’m into, it’s how I am with it, you know? What drives me to do it? It’s all about the reasons behind the behavior. Like, if someone wants to, I don’t know, really go for it in any area of life, that’s fine! But you have to ask yourself why? That’s the important part, figuring out the ‘why’ behind everything.

Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean revealed he first experimented with drugs before shooting the music video for their 2000 hit, “The Call.” Years later, he told Good Morning America he was “completely out of control” during the video shoot. After a setback, he achieved sobriety in 2021 and experienced significant improvements in just one year, including losing 32 pounds over seven months by eliminating alcohol and junk food.
I’m so inspired by his commitment! He recently shared with People magazine that he’s fully dedicated to staying on this path, saying it’s something he works on every single day. And it’s amazing – he finally took the advice he’d been hearing from others in recovery, and he says it’s completely changed his life for the better. It’s truly wonderful to see!
While AJ acknowledged he is “still learning, still growing,” he’s now confident in who he is.
I’ve been learning to set personal boundaries, something I didn’t used to do. It’s really helpful. I also recognize that ‘AJ’ is a public image, but it’s separate from who I am as a person – I’m Alexander James.

Following the tragic death of Mac Miller, rapper Bow Wow—born Shad Moss—revealed on Twitter that he once battled an addiction to cough syrup, often called “lean.” He shared a personal story, explaining that during the creation of his album Face Off with Omarion, he was using lean daily. He admitted to being high on the substance during a memorable on-stage confrontation with Torae on BET, and that it negatively impacted his attitude, relationships with fans and family. He emphasized that he never glorified drug use in his music. Bow Wow detailed his severe addiction during the UCP tour with Chris Brown, stating he consumed cough syrup at least seven times a day. He recounted collapsing backstage at a show in Cincinnati and waking up in the hospital experiencing withdrawal symptoms. He described the intense pain and physical effects, including feeling constantly cold and missing shows in Chicago and Baltimore due to being high and sick. He urged young people to avoid drugs, encouraging them to be good children, reach their full potential, and break harmful cycles. He also asked parents to talk to their children about the dangers of drug use, stressing the importance of preserving young lives. Bow Wow concluded by sharing that he still experiences stomach problems from his addiction and reaffirmed his commitment to living drug-free, encouraging others to do the same.

In 2018, the singer opened up about her struggles with addiction alongside the release of her album No Shame and her memoir, My Thoughts Exactly. She revealed she had been using cocaine and drinking heavily, describing herself as constantly intoxicated. Things came to a head when, after accidentally hitting Orlando Bloom with her head at Kate Hudson’s Halloween party and losing consciousness, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin organized an intervention to help her.
She shared with The Guardian that she felt deeply unfulfilled. She recalled a particularly low point, saying she even considered trying heroin because nothing else seemed to alleviate her suffering.

The actor known for The Parent Trap struggled with cocaine addiction during the 1980s, leading him to enter rehab in 1990. He later shared on Today that he came of age in the 1960s and 70s, a time when attitudes toward drug use were very different.
He confessed that in the 1980s, he was using cocaine almost every day, even to the point where it impacted his finances. He described desperate nights pleading with God to stop his addiction, promising to quit if only he could get through the workday. But by the afternoon, he’d often convince himself it wasn’t a serious problem.
He described a powerful experience – what he called seeing a white light – where he felt like he was either dying or losing everything important in his life. He had to explain this to his then-fiancée, Meg Ryan, and then he decided to get help. This marked the end of his struggle with cocaine.

Following an incident in Newport Beach where he attempted to break down his hotel room door, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte began treatment for alcohol addiction in 2018. His representative stated to TopMob News that Lochte had been struggling with alcohol abuse for years, leading to a harmful pattern. He recognized the need for professional help and is now seeking treatment.
According to a recent statement, Ryan understands that overcoming this illness is crucial – it will allow him to make sound choices, be a good husband and father, and pursue his dream of competing in his fifth Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020.

Despite knowing you shouldn’t get sober for another person, actor Jason Ritter credits his relationship with Melanie Lynskey as a key factor in his decision to stop drinking.
He realized how wonderful she was and believed she deserved someone truly special. Appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show in March 2023, he admitted he didn’t feel up to the task, saying he was ‘a little bit too crazy’ for her.
However, as Ritter noted to TopMob News, he now sees that sobriety is ultimately a personal choice.
Looking back on the beginning of their relationship, he explained that he often framed his actions as being for her because he didn’t feel good about himself at the time. He prioritized avoiding her pain over his own, so it felt simpler to say he was doing things ‘for her.’ Now, he’s motivated by his own well-being.

Oh my gosh, I’ve been following this artist for years, and it breaks my heart to think about what he went through! He’s been sober for almost ten years now, which is amazing, but getting there… it was a real battle. It all started right after high school, and even as his career exploded, the addiction just kept getting worse. He actually told People magazine that he always had this black leather laptop bag nearby, filled with Jagermeister or vodka – seriously, at arm’s reach! Can you imagine? He said he’d be taking swigs every hour and a half to two hours, and then popping a couple of pills every three or four. It’s just… devastating to hear how much he struggled, but so inspiring that he made it through.
Despite his health issues, he continued to thrive. “I wasn’t falling apart,” he explained. “In fact, I was more productive then – I wrote more songs during that time than I do today, and that’s what really worried me.”
In late 2011, he was hospitalized with pancreatitis and warned that his life was in danger if he didn’t stop drinking. He admitted he initially tried to cut back on his own, setting small goals like limiting himself to a certain number of pills or amount of alcohol each day. “It would work for a couple of days,” he remembered, “but then someone would have a party and I’d start again.”
Gilbert finally realized he needed help and checked into rehab on December 18, 2011. He explained, “I reached a point where I knew I couldn’t overcome it by myself.” He admitted it was frustrating and humiliating, especially because he prided himself on his willpower, but this was one battle he couldn’t win alone.
