Jim Bob Duggar has some choice words for his son Joseph Duggar.
The father from the show 19 Kids and Counting sent an email to his son, Joseph, while Joseph was in jail in Arkansas. Joseph was awaiting transfer to Florida, where he faces accusations of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl during a trip in 2020.
Despite Joseph entering a plea of not guilty to charges of inappropriate sexual conduct with a minor, Jim Bob had previously advised him in an email to simply accept the circumstances.
According to records from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas obtained by TopMob News, Jim Bob wrote in a message on March 25th that while it’s okay to ask God for forgiveness, you’ll likely deal with serious repercussions for years.
The speaker noted that even biblical figures like David made serious mistakes, but through regret and change, he became someone God favored. Similarly, they pointed to Joseph, who overcame hardship – even imprisonment – to achieve something positive, demonstrating the ability to make the best of a bad situation.
Still, Jim Bob told Joseph that he and his longtime wife Michelle Duggar “love you very much.”
Oh my gosh, when I read his message, I almost cried! He said he was so sorry for everything I’m dealing with, and honestly, just hearing that from him meant the world. He said it’s gonna be a tough journey, but that God will help me through it, which, you know, is so him. And then he said I’ve made some mistakes, but if I’ve asked for forgiveness, God’s already forgiven me! It’s like he knows exactly what I need to hear, and it just makes me adore him even more. Seriously, he’s perfect.
The email also mentioned the legal issues facing Kendra Duggar, Joseph’s wife, who is accused of child endangerment and false imprisonment in their home state.

Jim Bob told Joseph that Kendra was doing well and continuing to have faith. He also shared that she sends her love, and reassured him that their children would be alright, as the entire family was working together to support them.
He said it was absurd that Kendra was both charged and arrested. They were hoping the charges would be dropped.
Similar to his wife and their four children, Joseph faces charges in Arkansas including endangering a child and unlawful imprisonment. As of now, neither he nor his wife have responded to the charges in court.

After appearing in Florida court on March 31st, Joseph was released on a $600,000 bond. He is scheduled to be formally charged at his next court appearance on April 20th.
TopMob News has reached out to attorneys for Joseph and Kendra for comment but hasn’t heard back.

Joseph Duggar‘s parents broke their silence in a statement on March 30.
A representative for the Duggar family shared with Us Weekly that Jim Bob and Michelle are deeply saddened by everything that’s happening. They’re currently concentrating on supporting their family and helping Kendra and her children through this challenging period.
The spokesperson said the couple is praying for the person who was harmed and asks for privacy during this difficult time. They are grateful for the support and prayers they’ve received.

I seriously couldn’t believe it when I found out about Joseph Duggar’s arrest yesterday. I was scrolling through social media and a friend actually texted me about the news reports – can you believe it? Apparently, he confessed to something awful back in 2020, and I’m just… completely heartbroken. It’s so shocking and upsetting, I’m still trying to process it all. I feel so bad for Jill and her family, this must be devastating for them.
Derick and Jill, who publicly shared their experiences with the family in the 2023 book Counting the Cost, stated they firmly denounce abuse.

Josh is deeply aware of the harm that false accusations can cause, his lawyer explained to the Daily Mail on March 20. He personally understands how such accusations can ruin someone’s life and how a person can be unfairly targeted for public attention, leading to distorted and exaggerated stories.
The attorney stated that Josh, who is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence for child pornography, doesn’t communicate often with Joseph, but ‘hopes and prays for his brother’s health and well-being during this challenging period.’

Jana and her husband shared on Instagram that they were devastated to learn about the situation involving her brother, Joseph. They said the news was completely unexpected and they hadn’t known anything about it beforehand.
We are deeply saddened by the harm done to this child, and we condemn this terrible act. Our thoughts are with the victim, and we hope justice will be served.

The couple, married this year, expressed their outrage over what they called the shocking behavior of Joseph, his brother.
Jason and Maddie released a statement on Instagram on March 26th, saying they were deeply shocked, confused, and saddened by recent news. While they acknowledged the personal impact, they emphasized their heartbreak for the child whose life has been disrupted by these harmful actions, stating that someone should never harm the vulnerable.
Maddie and I have always cared deeply about protecting those who are vulnerable, and we’ll continue to prioritize that. It’s truly awful to think someone would misuse their power to harass others.
People requested prayers for the victim, described as brave, and for Joseph’s family. They noted the particularly difficult situation for his children, who are now without the father and spiritual guide they deserved.

Joy-Anna shared on Instagram on March 26th that she was devastated by the recent news about her brother. She expressed her sympathy for the victim and said she’s been deeply upset and taking time to cope with the situation.
She added, “I will be taking some much-needed time with my family.”

On the March 25th episode of The Jinger & Jeremy Podcast, Jeremy shared that they had a challenging week trying to understand and pray about something, and it was impacting the podcast.
Jinger, who relocated to Los Angeles with Jeremy in 2019, shared that this has been a deeply painful week, saying, “I didn’t realize my heart could feel this much pain.” She added that the sadness and hurt, and the impact it’s had on others, are almost impossible to comprehend, and incredibly difficult to process.
“It’s incredibly difficult,” she said. “When something like this happens, all you can do is pray for strength and support – you simply can’t prepare for news like that.”

In a statement to People magazine on March 20, Joseph’s cousin expressed feeling devastated, heartbroken, and furious. Their primary concern was for the young victim, who should have been safe, cared for, and surrounded by trustworthy people.
Amy explained she was “utterly shocked to hear about these allegations and Joseph’s arrest.”
I’ve always believed in honesty, taking responsibility for your actions, and keeping children safe, even if it meant disagreeing with my own family. I believe you shouldn’t automatically trust or give anyone access simply because they’re family, particularly when children’s safety is involved.
