Masters of the Universe Will Officially Include Two of the Weirdest Villains in He-Man History

I’m really excited for the new Masters of the Universe movie! They’re bringing back so many classic characters – I spotted Mekaneck, Ram Man, and Trap Jaw in the trailer, alongside He-Man and Skeletor, of course. But what’s really cool is that it looks like they’re digging deep and including some of the more obscure, and frankly bizarre, villains from the original series. It’s going to be awesome seeing those guys on the big screen!

Mattel’s Brick Shop just unveiled its Masters of the Universe: Clash at Snake Mountain Building Set, inspired by the epic showdown between the heroes of Eternia and Skeletor in the movie. The set comes with 12 miniature NanoWorld figures to bring the battle to life. Beyond the familiar characters seen in trailers, it surprisingly includes some lesser-known figures like Pig Boy, Karg, and Gygor – a delightful surprise for fans!

No One Expected These Characters To Make The Cut In The Masters of the Universe Reboot

No one expected these three characters to be included in the new Masters of the Universe movie, but surprisingly, they all will be—and one of them will be making their on-screen debut.

Karg first appeared in the 1987 Masters of the Universe movie as a brand-new character. Actor Robert Towers originally played him, and he’s easily recognizable with his distinctive hooked hand and wild hairstyle. Karg is a powerful commander who serves Skeletor. This updated version maintains the hook hand but gives him a less exaggerated hairstyle and a more practical, military-style outfit.

Gygor is a character who was originally designed for a Masters of the Universe toy line but never actually released. He later got a figure in the Masters of the Universe Classics series, which included a backstory explaining that he was frozen after failing to attack Castle Grayskull, and then revived by Evil-Lyn. The movie version of Gygor will stay true to the original toy’s yellow and green colors.

Pig Boy, like Karg, was a character in the 1987 Masters of the Universe movie. However, Pig Boy has a unique backstory: the actor who played him, Richard Szponder, won a contest at age eight that awarded him a role in the film. In the movie, Pig Boy is one of Skeletor’s helpers and frequently carries the Havoc staff. A new version of the character will also be featured in the upcoming film, and a figure of him is included in this set.

The Snake Mountain set costs $54.00 and is officially described as a detailed recreation of Skeletor’s fortress from Mattel Brick Shop. It allows you to build the epic battle between the heroes of Eternia and Skeletor, and includes 12 miniature figures, special effects, and authentic details. You can build and display this clash between good and evil, and collect all the Masters of the Universe building sets from Mattel Brick Shop to recreate the movie (each set is sold separately).
