Dolly Parton, 80, Shows Off Her Midriff in Denim Crop Top

Jolene’s got nothing on Dolly Parton.

The 80-year-old model showed off her fit stomach while launching her new clothing line, Dolly’s Joleans, created in partnership with Khloe Kardashian’s Good American denim brand.

On April 3rd, Dolly shared a photo on Instagram showcasing a stylish outfit: a denim crop top and collared shirt paired with high-waisted blue jeans, cinched with a red bandana as a belt. She also modeled other eye-catching pieces from the collection, including white shorts and jeans featuring cutouts and buckles.

The Grammy-winning artist explained the collaboration stemmed from her lifelong love of denim, and her desire to refresh a classic wardrobe staple.

She explained that her goal is for anyone wearing her designs to feel confident, lovely, and true to who they are.

After keeping a low profile for several months because of health issues, Dolly recently returned to public appearances. Last month, she visited her Dollywood theme park and gave fans an update on how she’s doing.

As you may know, I haven’t been touring lately,” she explained on March 13th. “I’ve been dealing with some minor health concerns, but I’m getting the care I need.”

The country singer explained that her time away from the public eye was partly due to the death of her husband, Carl Dean, who passed away a year earlier.

She explained that she was exhausted from grieving the loss of Carl and dealing with other everyday challenges. She realized she needed to focus on rebuilding her strength, both emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Thankfully, Dolly added, “All is good. It didn’t slow me down.”

The singer of “I Will Always Love You” shared that she’s working on lots of exciting new projects and has a full schedule.

She explained she’s been busy writing, reflecting, and preparing for many exciting things happening throughout the year. She hinted at more to come, saying, ‘I’m not finished yet, not even close!’

Dolly Parton recently shared a surprising childhood inspiration: the town tramp. In a 2023 interview with Vogue, Parton explained that as a little girl, she admired this woman’s bold look – specifically her piled-up, bleached blonde hair, bright red lips and nails, high heels, and fitted skirts. Parton thought she was the most beautiful person she’d ever seen.

In her 2023 memoir, Behind the Scenes: My Life in Rhinestones, Dolly Parton shared that she used to create eyeliner with ash from burnt matches and colored her lips with juice from pokeberries when she was growing up.

The singer has said she doesn’t consider herself naturally beautiful, and believes she has to work at creating her look. She also points out that you don’t need pricey makeup – skill in application is more important than expensive products.

Dolly Parton told Allure magazine in 2021 that she always wears makeup, even when just stepping out. She joked that she’d want someone to apply makeup to her even in her coffin! She also explained she prefers to sleep in her makeup rather than go to bed with rollers, acne treatments, and patches.

Oh, my heart just aches thinking about it. My idol, Carl Dean, was getting older, you know? After 55 years together, he wasn’t doing so well, and honestly, I lived in constant fear that the paramedics would have to rush over at any moment. It was awful, and I just wanted to protect him. He passed away in March 2025, and I miss him terribly.

She explained that she always prepares for disasters like earthquakes and tornadoes. She wouldn’t be caught outside without makeup unless she was just starting her routine in the morning. If a tornado hit unexpectedly, she joked she’d likely just accept it. However, she’s quick to get ready – she can apply makeup in 15 to 20 minutes, and she wears a wig most days.

Dolly Parton wrote in her 2023 memoir, Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones, that the timing of your skincare routine isn’t crucial, as long as you cleanse your face daily. She describes doing her full beauty routine after waking up, ensuring she looks her best throughout the day.

She’s always eager to try the latest beauty products, but she swears by classic Vaseline and Almay eye makeup remover pads. She told First for Women in 2015 that she uses the pads to cleanse her face, and the small amount of mineral oil they leave behind works perfectly as a nighttime moisturizer. She believes this, along with a surprising ingredient – bacon grease – is the secret to her surprisingly good skin for her age.

Dolly Parton has openly discussed her fluctuating weight over the years. Back in 1987, she shared with reporters that she had lost around 50 pounds by eating smaller meals six or seven times a day.

And she merely wanted her breasts to stay in line with where her body was.

In a 1992 interview with the Chicago Tribune, the actress from Straight Talk explained that she’d been known for her figure long before breast implants became common. She clarified that she’d never had silicone injections, though she had undergone cosmetic surgery, including a breast lift after losing weight. She added that she would be too afraid to ever get injections.

In a 2004 interview with Dan Rather of CBS News, she described her horses as having been thoroughly trained and groomed. She proudly stated they now stood tall and strong, like courageous soldiers, emphasizing their impressive size, high cost, and her ownership.

However, they’re not insured for $1 million apiece—or for any amount.

Dolly Parton clarified a long-standing rumor on the TODAY show in 2022, stating it wasn’t true. She recalled that years ago, she’d heard about actress Betty Grable – or another famous star known for her legs – and jokingly suggested she might insure her own breasts since she was famous for hers. Parton explained it was just a playful thought and she never actually went through with it.

Dolly Parton often compares herself to butterflies, describing them as harmless and beautiful, as she shared with W magazine in 2021. She’s decorated her body with butterfly-themed tattoos, but she doesn’t necessarily love tattoos in general – she just appreciates the symbolism of butterflies.

She explained that many of her tattoos started as a way to cover up scars. Because she has very fair skin, she tends to scar easily from even small cuts and surgeries. When scars didn’t heal well, she’d get tattoos to make them less noticeable. Her tattoos aren’t dark or bold – they’re all soft, pastel colors, and she has quite a few!

Dolly received so many compliments on her fragrance that she decided to create her own perfume. She explained to Allure that it was made from a blend of her favorite scents.

She mentioned two products she especially loved: Tova’s musk bath oil and Mary Kay Intrigue perfume. When Mary Kay stopped making Intrigue, she became determined to stock up. “I bought every bottle I could find on eBay, even if it cost a lot,” she said. “I still have hundreds of bottles because I was so obsessed with that scent.”

I was so excited when Dolly Parton launched her Dolly Beauty fragrances! I heard she really wanted everything to feel personal, so she brought in all her favorite lotions and told the team at Edge Beauty, ‘Let’s find something that smells exactly like these, but make sure we’re completely covered legally!’ It was such a sweet and authentic way to start the line, and it really shows in the products.

Dolly Parton told Vogue she wears custom-made heels every day. She explained it’s crucial to have shoes specifically fitted to your foot’s arch and weight distribution. While she’s sometimes bought shoes from stores, they often cause blisters or discomfort. She loves the height and confidence heels give her, adding that she’s always found them to be a glamorous and empowering choice.

We know she wears makeup pretty much all the time, but what does Dolly wear, and when?

In a 2024 interview with Bustle, she described her approach to makeup as playful and creative, comparing it to a child experimenting with art supplies. She enjoys constantly trying new looks – from subtle lip lining to more daring styles – and loves the freedom to change things up.

Dolly always starts with foundation. She also uses a little blush and changes moisturizers depending on what’s worked best for her over time.

Dolly said she wears pretty much the same makeup whether it’s day or night, and just refreshes it throughout the day as needed.

When I go out at night, like to a show, I usually add some extra sparkle with glitter and eyeshadow – a little more than I’d wear during the day.

In a 2011 interview with The Guardian, Dolly Parton explained her approach to aging simply: “If something is drooping, bulging, or falling, I fix it.”

In a 2020 interview with Oprah Winfrey on The Oprah Conversation, she revealed she began getting plastic surgery around the age of 40. She shared her belief that people should do whatever makes them feel confident, saying, “If you have the means and the desire, and it makes you feel good, then go for it.” She explained that feeling good about yourself allows you to positively impact others.

But Dolly acknowledged that you have to be discerning when you go the surgical route.

She warned on The Howard Stern Show in 2023 that it’s important to be cautious with cosmetic surgery. She explained that any surgical procedure carries a risk of an undesirable outcome.

She explained that she prefers subtle enhancements, doing only small procedures at a time. She gets fillers and Botox, but only when necessary, and always with a cautious approach.

In a 2020 interview with Oprah, Dolly Parton playfully said she doesn’t plan on getting old because she’s too busy! She joked that she can’t slow down long enough for age to catch up with her. She intends to make the most of every age and believes she’ll still look vibrant, even if she lives to be 95. She anticipates maintaining a youthful appearance with the help of makeup, good lighting, and cosmetic procedures, but emphasized that true youthfulness comes from within.
