Red Dead Redemption 2 is now considered one of the all-time great video games, just like many other titles from Rockstar Games. It’s celebrated for its moving story, beautiful open world, tons of things to do, and fun gameplay. Released in 2018, it remains incredibly popular, so it’s not surprising fans are eager for a sequel.
Rockstar Games is currently focused on finishing Grand Theft Auto VI, so don’t expect to hear anything about the Red Dead series – let alone Red Dead Redemption 3 – until at least 2027. But there’s a way to pass the time! You can explore Bandit Hideouts in the meantime.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Fans Are Keeping The Game Alive
The free mod Bandit Hideouts, created by Gunter Severloh and crossed99 for Red Dead Redemption 2, significantly expands the game’s content. It adds 143 new bandit hideouts and 50 ambush locations, along with roaming bandits and even a bandit posse that will pursue you on horseback. Players will encounter more opportunities for bandit attacks, but can also hire up to nine gunmen at saloons to help fight – even against zombies!
When you find bandit camps, you can clear them out, but be prepared – they’ll probably call for backup! Still, the rewards can be great, so it might be worth the fight. You can find a list of all the bandit camp locations on the official mod page, helping you decide whether to engage or avoid them.
Will There Ever Be A Red Dead Redemption 3?
Although Rockstar hasn’t announced or even suggested a Red Dead Redemption 3, many fans are wondering if it could be next. With Grand Theft Auto VI expected to finish development in November, Rockstar might start focusing on other successful franchises. However, Red Dead Redemption 2 is still relatively new, having been released only eight years ago, so a sequel isn’t necessarily a top priority for the company, despite what players want.
Despite the game being unreleased, fans are already speculating about the main character in the next Red Dead Redemption 3. Some wonder if it will be a prequel, exploring the Van der Linde gang from a different angle, or a story focused on Sadie Adler and her past. While many possibilities exist, a lot of people – myself included – believe it’s time for a completely new character and a fresh story of redemption.
