The upcoming season of Daredevil: Born Again is generating a lot of excitement, especially after Krysten Ritter’s return as Jessica Jones was announced. Now, it appears the show is going even further, with recent set photos confirming the return of Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as Iron Fist, bringing the Defenders team back together. Plus, it looks like the series is adapting a significant story arc directly from the comic books.
New photos from the set reveal Luke Cage, played by Colter, filming a scene in an alley. He’s sporting a new outfit that comic book fans will recognize as the one he wore during his mayoral campaign. This suggests the show will explore that storyline, potentially showing how Cage can challenge Kingpin’s power in the city.
Luke Cage’s Run As Mayor Could Play A Big Role In Daredevil: Born Again Season 3

Wilson Fisk’s mayoral campaign will likely be a central focus of Daredevil: Born Again season 3, and could ultimately lead to his downfall. Throughout the series, Fisk has consistently used his position to target his opponents, enacting laws designed to create problems for them while benefiting himself. We saw this with the Powers Act, which he used to provoke heroes into action, then exploited their attempts to help people as justification for arresting them.
Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, who are married in the comic books, saw a similar situation unfold. After Cage proved he could inspire the city’s residents, the other heroes supported his run for mayor. Wilson Fisk, however, fought back using every resource at his disposal, including the mind control powers of the Purple Man. Ultimately, Fisk was defeated by one of his own children, who broke free from his control and aided the heroes in stopping his schemes.
After losing his memory of Daredevil’s true identity, Fisk targeted who he thought was Daredevil. Tragically, he ended up killing Matt Murdock’s twin brother, Mike. It wasn’t until Matt defeated him that Fisk realized Daredevil was still alive. With Fisk imprisoned, Luke Cage was able to run for and become the next Mayor.
Not everything from that story will likely appear in the show, but even if the main events are similar, it could be crucial for regaining control of the city from Kingpin. It’s also really cool to see a design from the comics brought to life on screen.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is now streaming on Disney+.
