Netflix has a huge collection of shows, and its science fiction offerings are particularly strong. Sci-fi is consistently popular, with new movies and TV series always appearing. The best sci-fi shows aren’t just entertaining – they become cultural touchstones. With so many great options, choosing what to watch can be tough, but Netflix currently has several excellent sci-fi TV shows available.
Looking for sci-fi to watch on Netflix in the US? You’ll find a fantastic selection, including shows created specifically for the platform and some recently added gems. All these titles are perfect for a binge-watching session and are currently available as of April 2026.
7) Altered Carbon

Netflix has many shows adapted from books, but Altered Carbon is a standout sci-fi series that doesn’t get enough attention. Although it only lasted two seasons, the show boasts a detailed and compelling sci-fi universe centered around intriguing mysteries, and features a fantastic cast. With its engaging length, it’s ideal for binge-watching, and sci-fi fans who haven’t seen it are in for a treat.
6) Falling Skies

Despite being a really great sci-fi series, Falling Skies doesn’t get much attention these days. The show, which ran for five seasons, follows a group of people fighting back after aliens invade Earth. It features a strong cast and crew, and while it’s a bit of a commitment, Falling Skies is one of the best overlooked sci-fi shows you can find on Netflix.
5) Resident Alien

Let me tell you, I was absolutely gutted when Resident Alien got cancelled back in 2025. It’s one of those sci-fi shows I can just keep rewatching without ever getting bored. The premise is fantastic: an alien crash-lands on Earth intending to wipe us all out, but then decides to play the role of a small-town doctor in Colorado instead. What really makes it special is how seamlessly it blends sci-fi with genuinely funny and surprisingly touching moments. It’s a truly exceptional show, and thankfully, you can stream it on Netflix right now if you’re in the US.
4) Halo

The popular video game series Halo was adapted into a live-action TV show, bringing its large-scale sci-fi story to the small screen. Set in the 26th century, the series depicts the conflict between humanity, represented by the United Nations Space Command, and the Covenant – a powerful alliance of alien races determined to wipe out mankind. Though it was cancelled after two seasons, Halo remains a compelling military sci-fi show and is currently streaming on Netflix.
3) 11.22.63

Several science fiction TV series have adapted Stephen King’s work, but 11.22.63 is widely praised as one of the best. The show follows a time traveler trying to prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and who finds himself unexpectedly falling in love with his new life in the past. It’s a compelling sci-fi story that focuses on the emotional side of time travel, and all episodes are currently available to stream on Netflix in the US.
2) Orphan Black

Truly great science fiction TV shows are rare, but Orphan Black is definitely one of them. This Canadian thriller features Tatiana Maslany playing a woman who discovers she’s one of many genetically identical clones, and then tries to uncover the mystery of how she came to be. All five seasons of this critically praised show are now available on Netflix, making it ideal for a sci-fi marathon.
1) Pantheon

As a huge animation fan, I’ve always felt animated sci-fi doesn’t get the love it deserves, and Pantheon is a perfect example. It’s gotten some amazing reviews and built a really dedicated fanbase, but it still seems to fly under the radar. The show follows a bunch of different characters dealing with a world where people are starting to upload their minds, and it’s seriously thought-provoking stuff – really gets you thinking and feeling. Good news for US viewers: both seasons are now available to stream on Netflix!
