Who is Scarlett Moffatt? I’m a Celebrity South Africa contestant and TV presenter

The popular show I’m a Celebrity is returning with a fresh group of celebrities who are prepared for the challenges ahead.

This season features returning contestants who are all familiar with the challenges of camp life, as the South African version of the show has brought back a lineup of celebrities who have all competed on the series before.

As a huge fan of the show, I’m so excited to hear they’re bringing back 12 celebrities! It’s a mix of past winners and those who didn’t last very long at all. Eight of them will be starting in the jungle right away, and then we’ll get two groups of new arrivals – the first one will actually show up during the very first episode!

Scarlett Moffatt, known from television, is returning to the show after ten years. Here’s an update on what she’s been doing and everything you need to know about her before tonight’s episode.

Scarlett Moffatt first appeared on television in 2013, but became well-known as a cast member on the show Gogglebox. She starred alongside her parents, Mark and Betty, starting in March 2014 with the show’s third season.

She started presenting on Capital North East’s Capital Breakfast show in 2015. After winning I’m a Celebrity the year before, she left the show Gogglebox in 2017.

Since then, she’s worked as a TV presenter on several shows, including the reboot of Streetmate, hosting behind-the-scenes coverage at the National Television Awards, and appearing with Ant & Dec on Saturday Night Takeaway.

Scarlett Moffatt got back into radio in 2018, filling in as a host on Heart’s evening show. More recently, since 2022, she’s been co-hosting a BBC Radio 1 podcast with her boyfriend, Scott Dobinson, called ‘Scarlett Moffatt Wants to Believe’.

Most recently, she won the 2025 Christmas special of Strictly Come Dancing.

What season of I’m a Celebrity was Scarlett Mofatt on?

Scarlett was crowned Queen of the Jungle on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2016. Interestingly, her fellow contestant Adam Thomas finished third that same year.

Why is Scarlett Mofatt returning to I’m a Celebrity?

Okay, so the woman who won ‘I’m a Celebrity…’ back in 2016 is heading back, and honestly? She’s nervous! But she said there was absolutely no chance she was going to say no to the offer. I get it – it’s a huge opportunity, even if it is terrifying!

Honestly, I was totally surprised when they asked me to be on the show! There are so many talented people out there, I couldn’t believe they even considered me. I’m a huge fan and watch every episode, so getting the invitation just made my day. I was really overwhelmed with gratitude.

Scarlett explained that being ten years older presents a significant challenge. She admitted to feeling nervous, noting that the challenges in the first season of Legends seemed even more difficult than all the Australian trials combined.

She openly shared that she returned to the show because she needs money for a bathroom renovation.

I’m a Celebrity… South Africa returns on Monday 6 April at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
