Joseph Duggar was in solitary confinement for 10 days.
Following his arrest on March 18th in Tontitown, Arkansas, for alleged child sexual abuse during a 2020 family trip to Florida, Josh Duggar, known from the show 19 Kids and Counting, was kept apart from the general jail population for his own protection, according to records from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office obtained by TopMob News.
According to a police report from March 19th, Duggar was placed in administrative segregation for seven days due to his public profile and the significant media attention on his case. This was done to ensure his safety.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this case closely. Essentially, his time in protective custody has been prolonged – he won’t be released until after his extradition to Florida on March 27th. Authorities are continuing to justify this by stating they’re concerned for his safety, according to official records.
Joseph pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual misconduct with a minor in a Florida court on March 30th. He was released on a $600,000 bond, but the judge ordered him to avoid all contact with the alleged victim and to have no unsupervised interactions with any children, including his and his wife Kendra Duggar’s four children.
While serving his sentence, the 31-year-old man found strength in his religious beliefs and read a Bible given to him by the jail’s staff. He and his wife had also been accused of four counts each of putting children in danger and unlawfully restricting their freedom.
In a March 21st email to his sister-in-law, Anna Duggar, Joseph shared that he’s currently in solitary confinement but is finding comfort in a Bible he was given, which is helping him stay positive.

Joseph has been reunited with Kendra back in their home state, according to his lawyer, Albert J. Sauline III, who spoke with People magazine on April 3rd.
Joseph and Kendra haven’t yet responded to the charges of child endangerment and false imprisonment against them. Court records show Joseph is due back in court on April 29th.
His first arraignment in Florida has been scheduled for April 20.
Read on to see what other members of the Duggar family have said about Joseph’s arrest.

Joseph Duggar‘s parents broke their silence in a statement on March 30.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are deeply saddened by everything that’s happening,” a family spokesperson told Us Weekly. “Their priority right now is supporting their family and helping Kendra and her children through this challenging period.
The couple’s spokesperson said they are thinking of the victim and asked for privacy during this difficult time. They are grateful for the support and prayers they’ve received.

I was absolutely floored last night when I found out about Jill’s brother, Joseph Duggar, being arrested. Seriously, I was just scrolling through social media and a friend texted me, sending a link to all these reports about Joseph and… and the accusations. Apparently, he confessed to something awful back in 2020 – harming a young girl. I’m just completely shocked and my heart is breaking for Jill and her family. It’s just… devastating.
Okay, so Derick and Jill—you know, the ones who finally told their side in that book, Counting the Cost—they basically came out and said they absolutely, 100% don’t stand for abuse. It’s like, finally! They’re saying it out loud, and it means so much to me that they’re taking a stand.

Josh is deeply aware of the harm caused by false accusations,” his lawyer told the Daily Mail on March 20. “He knows firsthand how these accusations can ruin someone’s life and how a person can be unfairly targeted for media attention, leading to distorted and exaggerated stories.
The attorney stated that Josh, who is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence for child pornography, doesn’t communicate often with Joseph, but ‘hopes and prays for his brother’s health and well-being during this challenging period.’

Jana and her husband shared on Instagram that they were devastated to learn about the situation involving her brother, Joseph. They said the news was completely unexpected and that they hadn’t known anything about it before it became public.
We are deeply saddened by the harm done to this child, and we condemn this unacceptable act. Our thoughts are with the victim and their family, and we hope for a just outcome.

The couple, married earlier this year, expressed their outrage at the shocking behavior of Joseph, his brother.
Jason and Maddie shared a statement on Instagram on March 26th, saying they were deeply shocked, confused, and saddened by recent events. While they were personally affected by the news regarding their brother, they expressed greater concern for the child whose life has been devastated by the actions of someone who should have protected them. They described feeling heartbroken for the child and disgusted by what had happened.
Maddie and I have always cared deeply about protecting those who are vulnerable, and we’ll continue to prioritize that. It’s horrifying to think someone would misuse their power to harass others.
Honestly, it just broke my heart when they asked for prayers, not just for him – our Joseph! – but for his family too. It’s just… unthinkable. His poor kids, having to grow up without their dad, a dad who should have been their guide, their everything. It’s just so unfair, and I can’t stop thinking about them.

Joy-Anna shared on Instagram on March 26th that she was devastated by the recent news about her brother. She expressed her sympathy for the victim and said she’s been deeply upset and taking time to cope with the situation.
She added, “I will be taking some much-needed time with my family.”

As Jeremy shared on the March 25th episode of their podcast, The Jinger & Jeremy Podcast, they’d been going through a tough time and really needed the week to work through things and pray about it all, and it was weighing heavily on them as they recorded.
Jinger, who relocated to Los Angeles with Jeremy in 2019, shared that this week has been incredibly difficult. She said her heart was broken, and the pain and sadness—especially considering how many people it has impacted—is almost unimaginable. She described it as a deeply painful experience on multiple levels.
It really is incredibly difficult. When news like this hits, all you can do is turn to God, pray for strength, and ask for help. Honestly, you just can’t prepare for something like this – it takes you completely by surprise and leaves you feeling helpless.

In a statement to People magazine on March 20, Joseph’s cousin expressed feeling devastated, heartbroken, and furious. They said their immediate concern was for the young victim, who should have been safe, cared for, and surrounded by trustworthy people.
Amy explained she was “utterly shocked to hear about these allegations and Joseph’s arrest.”
Honestly, I’ve been shouting from the rooftops for years about how vital truth and accountability are, and especially protecting kids. It hasn’t been easy – I’ve even had to stand up to my own family about it! I truly believe that just because someone is family doesn’t mean you automatically trust them, especially when children’s safety is on the line. It’s just… non-negotiable for me.
