Pluribus Season 2 Gets Encouraging Filming Update From Apple TV Sci-Fi Series Star

Karolina Wydra shared good news about when filming will begin for season 2 of Pluribus, even though fans anticipated a lengthy delay.

In the series Pluribus, Beata Wydra portrays Zosia, one of the many people infected by an alien virus and part of the collective consciousness. Zosia often communicates with the character Carol Sturka, played by Rhea Seehorn. The first season was a critical and commercial success for Apple TV+, ending with a shocking cliffhanger: Carol bringing an atomic bomb home. Fans are eager for the show’s return, but creator Vince Gilligan has stated it won’t be an annual event.

During a conversation with Tatiana Hullender from ScreenRant at PaleyFest, actress Julie Ann Emery (Wydra) revealed that filming for the second season is slated to start this fall. She also spoke about her strong connection with her co-stars, including Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Schutte, and Carlos-Manuel Vesga, and expressed her excitement about working with them again. You can find Wydra’s full comments below.

Oh, I really wish I could say we all met up, but Rhea couldn’t make it this time because of work. Yesterday, Samba, Vesga, and I got together for coffee, and it was just amazing. We all connect so well – the four of us genuinely love and support each other. I’m seriously counting down the days until we can all be in the same city again! Vesga lives in Colombia, so it doesn’t happen often enough. I just can’t wait to see everyone every day. We’re hoping to get together again sometime this fall, hopefully! [Laughs]

Following his statement that the show won’t return every year, Gilligan also hinted at the usual release pattern for Pluribus – new seasons typically arrive around the same time each year. Considering the first season premiered in November 2025, we might see season 2 in November 2027, particularly now that Wydra has announced filming will begin this year.

With overwhelmingly positive reviews and huge viewership numbers, Pluribus has become a major hit in recent years. However, the two-year wait between seasons highlights a growing frustration with long breaks between seasons of popular shows. This is especially noticeable with series like HBO Max’s The Pitt and Pluribus itself, which now return roughly once a year.

When Pluribus season 2 begins, Carol and Manousos Oviedo (Carlos-Manuel Vesga) are figuring out their next steps in the fight against the hive mind. They may even consider using the atom bomb they have. Manousos gained crucial knowledge about the infected’s weaknesses at the end of season 1, and he’s now using that information. Meanwhile, Carol has a powerful new motivation to fight back after discovering that Zosia and the hive mind have secretly taken her frozen eggs and are attempting to extract her stem cells to turn her into one of them.

Wydra also highlights Schutte’s character, Koumba DiabatĂ©, as a crucial part of the story. Unlike others, DiabatĂ© isn’t trying to fix or join the hive mind – he’s simply enjoying life, confident the infected will cater to his every desire. He’s unique because, like Manousos, he’s immune and maintains a friendly relationship with Carol. As Carol and Manousos challenge the hive mind’s control and the infected try to convert the immune, DiabatĂ© will be forced to choose a side.

While no new actors have been officially confirmed, Bob Odenkirk hinted at a possible appearance. Rhea Seehorn, his co-star from Better Call Saul, will lead the show, and Patrick Fabian, another Better Call Saul alum, will provide a voice cameo. Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad, is directing. Like the first season, the second season of Pluribus will likely feature a small cast, with the story mainly centering around Carol, Zosia, and Manousos.
