Carlos Gu, the winner of Strictly Come Dancing, has shared his thoughts on who should replace Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman as the show’s hosts.
Ever since the original hosts left the BBC show, everyone’s been guessing who will replace them. Now, Gu has offered a surprising suggestion for two potential replacements.
Gu told The Mirror that Janette Manrara and Aljaž Škorjanec would be a great team as presenters.
Rylan Clark-Neal currently hosts the show It Takes Two, and Graziano Di Prima returned to Strictly Come Dancing in 2024 after taking two years to explore other work.
With several professional dancers leaving Strictly, Aljaž Škorjanec hasn’t been mentioned as one of them, leading people to believe he’ll be back as a pro on the show later this year.
When asked if he’d be a good show host, Gu laughed and said he wasn’t suited for the role. He enjoys being a judge, though, and jokingly suggested he might be good at it someday.
He continued: “Tess and Claudia were iconic, irreplaceable almost, but the show carries on.
I really enjoyed the show when it originally featured both a male and female host, like Bruce Forsyth did. I think having that mix works well, and Janette Manrara and Aljaž Škorjanec would be my first picks for that role.
Gu recently shared similar thoughts about Tess and Claudia at the TopMob Covers Party 2026, telling TopMob that they are both icons who were instrumental in making Strictly a success. He acknowledged that things will change, but expressed confidence that everything will be alright.
The whole cast and I are excited to find out who the new hosts will be. It should be really exciting!
