It’s been a huge day for fans of One Piece! Netflix revealed some exciting news about the Straw Hat Pirates, including a confirmed second season of the live-action series, titled One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta, coming next year. But that wasn’t all – they also gave us a first look at the Wit Studio remake of the original anime, simply called The One Piece. And as if that weren’t enough, Netflix announced a brand new animated project set in the Grand Line, promising something completely different for the series.
Get ready for the LEGO One Piece animated special, coming to Netflix on September 29th! This two-part adventure is playfully presented as “Captain Usopp The Brave & The Straw Hats,” hinting that Usopp will be telling the story. Netflix describes it as a unique retelling of the first two seasons of the live-action ONE PIECE, brought to life with LEGO’s signature comedy, excitement, and brick-built action. It’s a great way for newcomers to jump into the series, and a fun new take for longtime fans. Check out the first trailer below!
The Grand Line Expands

This isn’t the first time the Straw Hat Pirates are appearing in LEGO form. LEGO sets based on the live-action One Piece series were released with the first season, and recent reports suggest even more are on the way. If the leaks are accurate, LEGO will be creating sets inspired by locations from season two, like Loguetown and Drum Island. Excitingly, fans will also be able to buy a LEGO version of Tony Tony Chopper!
Netflix also revealed that season three of One Piece will premiere in 2027. This season will feature Luffy and his crew facing off against Sir Crocodile and the remnants of his criminal organization, Baroqueworks. While the Straw Hats have dealt with threats from Baroqueworks before, the battles to come on the desert island promise to be even more challenging. The casting of Bon Clay and Ace shows the show is committed to faithfully adapting the original story for its next season.
Wit Studio, the animation company behind the upcoming remake of One Piece, shared some new information about the project. Although a release date hasn’t been announced yet, it’s clear they’re aiming for an anime adaptation that stays closer to the original manga than previous versions by Toei Animation. All of these projects demonstrate that Netflix is fully committed to the world of One Piece and its creator, Eiichiro Oda.
