Aubrey Plaza Is Pregnant One Year After Husband Jeff Baena’s Death

Aubrey Plaza is checking into a new phase of life.

Actress Aubrey Plaza is pregnant with her first child, according to a report in People magazine. The baby will be her first with her partner, Christopher Abbott, over a year after the passing of her husband, Jeff Baena.

TopMob News has reached out to reps for Aubrey but has not heard back.

Aubrey, 41, and Chris, 40, hadn’t publicly confirmed they were dating, but they’ve worked together on several projects. They both appeared in the 2020 film Black Bear and the 2023 off-Broadway production of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.

As Aubrey begins this new phase of her career, she’ll be reaching a wider audience with her children’s books, including The Legend of the Christmas Witch (2021) and its sequel, The Return of the Christmas Witch (2022). She’s talked before about what inspired the books, explaining they came from her own playful tradition of playfully surprising her friends’ children while dressed as the Christmas Witch.

I ask my friends with kids to schedule a time for present opening on Christmas morning, and then I stop by around 7:30 to join in the fun,” she shared on The Drew Barrymore Show in October.

Aubrey chuckled, explaining that she playfully tries to snatch the gifts, creating a bit of exciting chaos on Christmas morning—something kids really enjoy.

Aubrey is expecting a baby just over a year after her husband, Jeff, passed away in January 2025. They had separated in September 2024 after being married for three years.

Since Jeff’s passing, Aubrey—who collaborated with him on films like Life After Beth (2014) and The Little Hours (2017)—has openly shared how much she struggled with her grief.

She recently told Amy Poehler on her podcast, Good Hang, that she’s doing alright despite ongoing challenges. ‘I’m grateful to be moving forward,’ she said, ‘but it’s still a daily effort.’

Aubrey described her grief as feeling like being trapped in the movie The Gorge, explaining it’s like having dangerous cliffs on both sides with a deep, perilous space in between.

Aubrey described a feeling connected to grief, saying, ‘When I first saw it, it really resonated with how I experience grief—or how grief might feel. It’s like there’s this huge, overwhelming sadness constantly present, and I’m aware of it. Sometimes I’m tempted to fully immerse myself in that sadness, but other times I just observe it or try to avoid it. But it never really goes away.’

Though their characters on Revenge didn’t get their happily ever after, Emily VanCamp and Josh Bowman certainly did!
