Beloved Channel 4 medical documentary show to return to screens 8 years after being axed

The popular and award-winning documentary series, One Born Every Minute, is making a comeback to Channel 4 after being off the air for eight years.

This popular documentary series, which originally aired for 11 seasons between 2010 and 2018, is back with 12 new episodes. Viewers can once again experience the personal and moving story of childbirth.

The new series, scheduled to begin filming later this year, will offer a look at life in modern Britain. It will focus on how families are changing, improvements in care for new mothers, and the difficulties faced by healthcare workers in 2026.

The series captures the real and emotional journey of childbirth through the eyes of both expectant families and the medical staff who care for them. Filmed with fixed cameras, it offers a modern look at this timeless experience, sharing a variety of stories and perspectives.

Vivienne Molokwu, a commissioning editor at E4, announced the return of a show following new parents. She explained that after almost a decade, they’re excited to again document the emotional experience of welcoming a baby. The show will explore how modern families are navigating parenthood in the digital age, and they believe it will strongly connect with E4 viewers.

Will Rowson, from Dragonfly TV, said they’re delighted to bring back ‘One Born Every Minute’. He explained that a lot has changed in pregnancy and maternity care since the show was last on air, making this a great time to update it for viewers on E4.

The documentary series originally premiered in 2010, and due to its popularity, it was adapted for international audiences with several versions being created.

The show won a BAFTA Award for Best Factual Series after its first season, and was nominated for the same award in 2011.
