Netflix’s popular series Bridgerton is growing! Three new actors have joined the cast for the fifth season.
The last episode ended sadly, with Fran (Hannah Dodd) unexpectedly losing her husband, Lord John Stirling (Victor Alli), who died from an aneurysm.
The unexpected and heartbreaking death, which doctors at the time couldn’t explain, shocked viewers midway through Bridgerton season 4, but it won’t be the last we see of Fran’s character.
Michaela (Masali Baduza), who is related to John, will star alongside her in season 5, and we’ve just learned about some of the new actors joining the cast.
Tega Alexander will play Christopher Anderson, a charming and scandalous character from the Regency period. He’s described as being as captivating as the eligible bachelors in the popular series Bridgerton.

Netflix hints that beneath a playful exterior, the son of Lord Anderson struggles with hidden insecurities that could lead to his downfall. He’s determined to leave his mark on the world, but the path he takes remains uncertain.
Alexander recently starred in the Paramount+ drama MobLand, playing the character Charlie the Jeweller. He also appeared in a supporting role as Flying Officer Paul Edney in season 2 of ITV’s Red Eye.
Gemma Knight Jones will be joining the cast of Bridgerton season 5 as Lady Elizabeth Ashworth, a close and trusted friend of Michaela. The character is known for being practical, insightful, and understanding the hidden expectations of high society.
I’m really excited to hear that Jacqueline Boatswain will be playing Michaela’s mother, Helen Stirling! They’ve described her as the woman who truly shaped Michaela into who she is – the core of her strength and personality, basically. It’s a big role, and I think Jacqueline will be perfect.

As a total cinema lover, I’m already hooked by this description! It sounds like this character is a really dynamic mother – she’s definitely involved in her daughter’s life, helping her navigate London society. She’s not just gentle, though; she’s got a lot of energy and isn’t afraid to be firm when she needs to be. It’s a classic ‘tough love’ situation, but with a really lively twist!
Jones, who previously worked on MobLand, now plays DC Mukasa in a drama directed by Guy Ritchie. Boatswain has been seen as Sarah Mackie in ITV’s After the Flood, and has also appeared in The Marlow Murder Club and the Prime Video series Carnival Row.
After the surprising events of season 4, actress Baduza spoke to TUDUM about what’s next for her character and Francesca. She explained that losing a loved one changes everything, and the strong bond between Michaela and Francesca will be crucial as they navigate the future. She emphasized that the depth of their connection is something you truly understand only through personal experience.
Bridgerton seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix. Season 5 coming soon.

I’m a huge fan of TopMob, and I always check out David Craig’s writing on their site – he really knows his stuff when it comes to drama and comedy on TV and streaming! Before TopMob, he was writing for Starburst Magazine and even hosted a podcast called The Winter King for ITVX. He’s got a journalism background too, having studied it at the University of Sheffield – definitely someone who knows how to tell a good story!
