State of Play with Third-Party PS5 Reveals Tipped for Next Week, According to Notorious Snoop

Update [Wed 8th Apr 2026, 6:30pm]:

The next State of Play is coming soon, apparently. Well, how does next week suit you?

NateTheHate, known for leaking information, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Sony is planning a livestream on April 16th.

While the date isn’t final and could still change – as is typical with this kind of information – we believe it’s likely to be accurate because the source has consistently provided trustworthy information in the past.

NateTheHate commented that he doesn’t know exactly what the upcoming State of Play will cover, but he anticipates it will mainly feature games from other developers. Also, the announcement of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced is expected on the same day – a curious timing, to say the least.

If the information is correct, Sony likely won’t make an official announcement until early next week, as they typically provide a few days’ notice for events like this.

We’ll update as and when we learn more.

According to a trusted source, Sony is expected to hold another State of Play livestream in roughly seven weeks. The information comes from Nate the Hate, who responded to a question on social media about potential updates on PlayStation’s future.

According to a recent leak, a new video is expected to be released shortly after the next State of Play presentation, which is scheduled to happen before June. This information comes from sources who spoke with Nate the Hate, but the specific release date hasn’t been confirmed.

Since 2019, Sony has consistently held its State of Play presentations in May, or very early June. The only exceptions were in 2020 and 2025, when the events were held just a few days into June.

Therefore, a State of Play taking place next month is an incredibly safe bet.

Microsoft is holding an Xbox Games Showcase on June 7th, and the Summer Game Fest is happening on June 5th. Sony usually reveals its plans a few weeks before these events, and it looks like they’ll follow that pattern again this year.

Sony’s upcoming presentation will likely feature another glimpse of the highly anticipated Marvel’s Wolverine, with a confirmed release date of September 15, 2026. Given the importance of the May livestream, we might also see updates on titles like Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet from Naughty Dog and Marvel Tokon, both developed by PlayStation Studios.

We can expect a lot of game announcements, with reveals from the game developers themselves mixed in with news from other sources. Capcom might finally announce a release date for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and we’ll likely get an update on Phantom Blade Zero as well.
