2026 is shaping up to be a big year for Doctor Doom! He’ll be a major player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his debut in December’s Avengers: Doomsday, and he’s also taking center stage in Marvel Comics this spring. In April, Doom 2099: Rage of Doom will feature Doom making a deal with Ultron. But that’s not all – fans can also look forward to Doomquest #1, arriving May 27th, which will see Doctor Doom embark on a quest to change the past – and we’ve got a sneak peek!
The new 10-issue series, Doomquest, is written by Ryan North (of One World Under Doom) with art by Francesco Mobili. It’s designed to be a self-contained story, making it easy for new readers to discover Marvel’s Doctor Doom, while also offering a fresh, high-stakes adventure for existing fans. Early previews from Marvel Comics suggest a compelling start, as Reed Richards attempts to alter history – a move Doom can’t allow, and one that’s bound to create problems.
Mister Fantastic Wants to “Optimize” History (And Doom’s Not Having It)

The first issue of Doomquest introduces Doctor Victor Von Doom, a brilliant scientist, powerful sorcerer, and the ruler of his own country – a truly remarkable man. However, Doom always desires more. When his rival, Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), presents a plan to improve history by traveling back in time and preventing wars, Doom is furious – especially since he wasn’t even invited to the event. Reed’s goal is to save countless lives and guide humanity to its peak, but Doom believes altering history to fit Reed’s vision is unacceptable. Determined to act first, Doom sets out to rewrite history himself. But his plans are disrupted when the Fantastic Four intervene, leading to an all-out battle that spans across time and space! Doomquest is a classic Doom story, offering a perfect starting point for understanding his character. This exciting miniseries delves deep into Victor Von Doom’s world, taking readers on action-packed adventures through time and space, unlike anything else you’ll find.

Let’s be honest – from what we’ve seen, Doctor Doom isn’t trying to fix the timeline out of the goodness of his heart. This is classic Doom – his actions are fueled by his ego and a desire to make Latveria even greater. He’s traveling through time to reshape history for his own glory. The story raises interesting questions about whether anyone can truly ‘improve’ the past, and while we’ll have to read the full book to see how it unfolds, the writer promises this will be Doom at his most villainous – and that’s something we’re excited to see!

I was excited to see where other writers would take Doctor Doom after the events of ‘One World Under Doom,’ and I still am. But when I got the opportunity to tell a classic Doom story – one set in the recent past, free from the current storyline – I couldn’t resist. The chance to really go wild with the character was incredibly appealing. This project is just pure fun: Doom at his most iconic, embarking on a time-traveling quest to reshape history and elevate his homeland, Latveria. It’s over-the-top, exciting, and I guarantee some truly memorable Doom moments and speeches.
Doomquest #1 hits comic shops on May 27th.
