8 Years Later, American Horror Story Season 13 Confirms Another Crossover Is Happening (And a New Premiere Date)

This is an exciting week for fans of American Horror Story! Ryan Murphy Productions recently shared photos on Instagram hinting at the return of Jessica Lange, leading many to believe she’ll be reprising her popular role as Constance Langdon from the first season, Murder House. Now, a new photo confirms the upcoming thirteenth season will be a crossover, bringing back another beloved character and setting – and it’s happening sooner than expected!

Ryan Murphy Productions shared a new photo on Instagram on Wednesday, revealing Sarah Paulson will return as Cordelia Goode. The post confirmed that the next season will also bring back the popular Robichaux Academy. Unlike previous seasons, the series is now expected to premiere in September instead of October.

Okay, I’m officially losing it – Sarah Paulson is coming back as Cordelia Goode! The caption said ‘The Supreme Rises,’ which, honestly, gave me chills. And get this – they’ve completely rebuilt the Robichaux Academy set! As a huge fan of ‘American Horror Story,’ this is everything I could have hoped for and more.

AHS 13 Is Primed to be a Crossover Season (Does This Mean We’re Getting a Continuation of the Apocalypse Story?)

The news that Sarah Paulson will reprise her role as Cordelia in the next season of American Horror Story, along with Jessica Lange’s return – looking strikingly similar to her Murder House character, Constance Langdon – hints at big things to come. Fans will remember that Season 8, Apocalypse, brought together characters from Murder House, Coven, and Hotel, with the witches of Coven fighting to stop the Antichrist and save the world. They succeeded by sending Billie Lourde’s character, Mallory, back in time to eliminate a young Michael Langdon. However, the season suggested another Antichrist was born later, meaning the world remains in danger.

After the events of Apocalypse seemed to rewind time, and with the announcement of several returning cast members from both Coven and Apocalypse – including Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman – plus a new character who strongly resembles Constance Langdon, it’s looking more and more like the next season of American Horror Story will continue the story from Apocalypse. This is especially likely considering Billie Lourd’s character, Mallory, was predicted to become the next Supreme. This storyline was a highlight of the somewhat controversial Apocalypse season, and fans would likely be thrilled to see it developed further. However, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out exactly what to expect, as filming for season 13 just started this week.
