Sia is mending her elastic heart.
Sia recently discussed the details of her divorce, including a monthly child support payment of $42,500 to her ex-husband, Daniel Bernard. The couple share a 23-month-old son named Somersault Wonder Bernard.
Sia, a working mother in recovery, shared on X (formerly Twitter) that she’s seeking stability, and noted that child support costs are very high in California.
It’s been a really tough year, but I’ve learned a lot about handling hard times, focusing on what matters most – my family – and protecting myself from other people’s bad energy.
Court records show that, on top of child support payments, Sia also pays for her son’s private school, health insurance, and any activities he does outside of school.
The 50-year-old mother of two grown sons has also agreed to a $5 million life insurance policy, with Somersault as the beneficiary if she passes away before he becomes an adult.
According to court records, the former couple, who married in 2022, will share legal custody of their son and follow a set schedule for when he lives with each parent. They’ll alternate holidays, with Sia having custody of their son on Mother’s Day, Easter, and Christmas.
Daniel will celebrate Father’s Day, Halloween, Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and portions of Hanukkah with Somersault.
The agreement also stated that Sia and Daniel would not speak negatively about each other, either to their child directly or within their child’s hearing.
Sia began divorce proceedings from Daniel in March 2025, citing irreconcilable differences. She initially asked the court for full legal and physical custody of their child, Somersault, while allowing Daniel to have visitation rights.
I was shocked to learn that after the split, Daniel – he used to be a radiation oncologist – actually asked the court for over $250,000 a month in spousal support! Apparently, he wants to keep living the really high-end lifestyle he got used to during the marriage, and that’s what he’s basing his request on, according to documents I’ve seen.
Honestly, it broke my heart to read that her ex was claiming she was struggling with substance abuse and, even worse, that she was a danger to their little boy. She immediately said it wasn’t true, and I believe her. I just want the best for her and that child, and these accusations are awful!
Sia shared in a court document filed in October 2025 that she previously dealt with substance abuse, but she’s been fully sober for over six months. She’s currently maintaining her sobriety through regular testing and with the support of a sober companion.
Sia isn’t the only celebrity making significant payments to a former spouse. Keep reading for details on some of the most costly celebrity divorces.
After initially responding to claims made against him, Daniel, who used to be a radiation oncologist, asked the court for $250,856 each month in temporary support payments for his spouse. According to court documents obtained by TopMob, this amount is intended to allow his spouse to continue the comfortable and high-end lifestyle they enjoyed during the marriage.
He claimed Sia was using drugs and posed a “serious and immediate danger” to their son, but she refuted the accusation.
I want everyone to know that I did battle with drugs and alcohol over fifteen years ago. But I’m really proud to say I’ve been completely sober for more than six months now. I’m committed to my recovery, which means I’m regularly tested and I have a sober companion supporting me every step of the way.
