How Angelina Jolie’s Daughter Shiloh Was Really Cast in Dayoung Video

If you want to stay out of the spotlight, take a page from Shiloh Jolie’s book. She recently landed a role in a music video without anyone realizing she’s the daughter of famous actors.

The team managing K-pop star Dayoung hired a 19-year-old backup dancer for the “What’s a Girl to Do” music video without realizing she was Shiloh, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

Dayoung’s music video recently held auditions in the United States. According to a statement from Starship Entertainment on April 3rd, several members of the dance crew ‘Culture’ participated. Shiloh was chosen after the final round of auditions and will appear in the music video.

The representative explained that they didn’t realize the actress was the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt until very recently, and discovered it unexpectedly after filming had already wrapped.

Shiloh successfully used a previous stage name, “Shi,” during her audition, as seen in the credits of the music video released on April 7th. She had performed under this name before, last year.

I’ve been following Shiloh for a while now, and it’s interesting to see her express herself! It’s not the first time she’s adjusted her name, actually. When she turned eighteen this May, she officially requested to remove ‘Pitt’ from her last name, wanting to be known as Shiloh Jolie from now on. It feels like a really personal step for her, and I’m happy she’s doing what feels right.

She officially changed her name in August, nearly eight years after Angelina first filed for divorce from Brad.

Since then, other siblings have also made small changes to their names. Most recently, Shiloh’s 24-year-old brother, Maddox Jolie, removed his father’s last name from the credits of Couture, the 2025 film directed by Angelina and on which he worked as an assistant director.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s 17-year-old daughter, Vivienne, is listed as a producer’s assistant in the playbill for the Broadway musical, The Outsiders.

Angelina Jolie first fell in love with Cambodia while filming the movie Tomb Raider in 2001. Later, she traveled to the town of Battambang, hoping to adopt a child from a local orphanage.

She didn’t feel an immediate connection with her other children, she later shared with Vanity Fair. But when she saw Maddox—born August 5, 2001—lying in a box hanging from the ceiling, everything changed. She felt an instant bond and said she cried with emotion.

She adopted her oldest son as a single parent, but after she started dating Brad Pitt, he began the process to adopt him too.

Maddox Jolie-Pitt became an executive producer on his mother Angelina Jolie’s 2017 film, First They Killed My Father, because of his interest in her work. The film is based on a book by Loung Ung, Jolie’s friend, detailing the Cambodian genocide under the Khmer Rouge. Maddox explained to People that he wanted to contribute to the project however he could. He described his mother as “fun, funny, and easy to work with,” adding, “She’s a wonder.”

Maddox studied biochemistry at Yonsei University in South Korea – a decision his mother wholeheartedly supported. In April 2023, he was invited to a state dinner at the White House hosted by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden for South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee.

Angelina Jolie described Pax’s early life in Vietnam as incredibly restrictive. She told MSN in 2007 that for three and a half years, he lived in an orphanage near Ho Chi Minh City, sharing a small iron bed with around 20 other children and having no control over his own life or choices.

Maddox is adjusting well to life with his sisters, Zahara and Shiloh, and his new family. Angelina explained that he’s quickly embracing the freedom of having siblings and parents again. He’s learning English, is incredibly affectionate, and full of energy – a little wild, even – as he explores his newfound independence. She describes him as a remarkably resilient and strong little boy.

Pax was involved in several of Angelina’s projects, showing an early interest in filmmaking. He voiced a character in Kung Fu Panda 3 in 2016 and worked as a set photographer on First They Killed My Father. In 2018, he accompanied his mother to the Golden Globes.

He assisted with the design of Atelier Jolie, Angelina’s fashion and tailoring studio in New York City, and also worked as an assistant director on the set of her movie, Without Blood, which was filmed in Italy.

Angelina explained to People that working with her sons, Pax and Maddox, felt natural because a good film set often feels like a family.

When Angelina visited an orphanage in Hawassa, Ethiopia, she brought her then-3-year-old son, Maddox, and introduced him to her oldest daughter, Zahara, who was born on January 8, 2005. Angelina later told Anderson Cooper that Maddox quickly bonded with Zahara. Because Zahara was already seven months old when she came home, Maddox saw her a bit like a small pet he could cuddle and observe.

Zahara, like her brothers and sisters, is fascinated by her mother’s work. She’s joined her at public events like red carpets, helped launch her own jewelry line, the Zahara Collection, with designer Robert Procop in 2019, and even traveled to refugee camps in Syria to support her mother’s work with the UNHCR.

In August 2022, Angelina Jolie became emotional as she dropped her daughter Zahara off at Spelman College in Atlanta, jokingly hoping to avoid tears in a video she shared on Instagram. She later returned to campus to participate in the historically Black college’s homecoming celebration.

Zahara became a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at her school in 2023 and has since traveled with the actress to Washington, D.C. several times. She supported the actress during an emotional speech in February 2022 urging the renewal of the Violence Against Women Act, and again a year later when they spoke with legislators about passing the Justice for All Reauthorization Act of 2022.

Angelina and Brad welcomed their daughter, Shiloh, into the world on May 27, 2006, at a hospital in Swakopmund, Namibia. In an interview with MSN, Angelina described Shiloh as a bright, loving, and funny baby, adding that she saw a bit of her own mischievous personality developing in her daughter.

Shiloh first stepped onto the red carpet at the premiere of Unbroken in 2014. Since then, she’s attended events for films like Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, The Breadwinner, and Dumbo. She was also at the 2018 National Board of Review Awards Gala and the 2021 premiere of Eternals, where she famously wore a gown previously worn by her mother.

Angelina Jolie loves when her kids borrow clothes from her closet. She told TopMob’s Daily Pop that she encourages them to wear her clothes, even better than she does! She happily lets them have whatever they want and says, ‘It’s your turn!’ She embraces being the mom who lets her kids experiment with her style.

Shiloh not only admires Angelina’s charity work, but has also started exploring a potential career in entertainment, recently spending time at the Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Shiloh, our Shiloh, she officially changed her name! It happened after her 18th birthday in 2024 – she went to court in Los Angeles and filed to drop the ‘Pitt’ from her last name. She wanted to be known as just Shiloh Nouvel Jolie, and it actually went through! Months later, it was official. I seriously screamed when I found out. It’s like she’s finally fully her self, you know?

Angelina Jolie first showed off her pregnancy at the 2008 Independent Spirit Awards. She then welcomed twins, Knox and Vivienne, in Nice, France, on July 12, 2008. After settling into their home, Château Miraval, she told People magazine that life was chaotic but wonderful. Her daughters, Shiloh and Zahara, enjoyed helping with the twins, picking out their clothes and assisting with care.

Angelina pointed out that her son, Brad, shared many similarities with his grandfather, Hal Knox Hillhouse, both in personality and appearance. This resemblance was quite noticeable when they attended the 2015 British motorcycle Grand Prix.

Following in the footsteps of her older children, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh, Knox voiced a small character, Ku Ku, in the 2016 film Kung Fu Panda 3. Angelina Jolie shared with ET that her children were hesitant about acting, but she didn’t want them to miss out on the experience. She said they ended up enjoying themselves.

Angelina described her twin brother, Knox, as being similar to their late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, because he prefers to support other artists rather than seek the spotlight. She told TopMob News that he’s a thoughtful and dedicated person who takes his work in theatre seriously and always strives to contribute in the best way possible.

I’ll never forget seeing her as young Aurora in Maleficent back in 2014 – she was incredible! Angelina Jolie even said she was amazed by how well she hit her marks. But it seems she’s shifted her focus since then. Instead of being in front of the camera, she’s now working more behind the scenes, which is really cool to see.

Angelina shared that her daughter, Vivienne, inspired her to work on bringing the movie The Outsiders to Broadway. Vivienne then volunteered to help her mom, who was producing the Tony-winning show.

Angelina explained to People that her daughter, Vivienne—listed in the play program as Vivienne Jolie—often keeps her on track. “She’ll point out when I’ve made a mistake and remind me, ‘Didn’t you read the memo? We need to do this properly,'” Jolie said. “She’s a very dedicated and serious assistant.”
