EastEnders reveals Jasmine Fisher trial outcome in dramatic early BBC iPlayer release

The jury has reached a decision: is Jasmine Fisher from EastEnders (played by Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) found guilty, or not?

She’s been in jail for months, waiting to stand trial for the murder of her father, Anthony Trueman, which happened on Christmas Day. The tragedy occurred shortly after she discovered he was her biological father, and he attacked her, leading to his death when she defended herself with a lamp.

Zoe Slater, Jasmine’s birth mother, was unconscious but later turned herself in to the police to protect her daughter. However, just a few weeks later, Kat Moon surprisingly reported Jasmine to the authorities.

Jasmine captured the event on her phone, but the Slater family didn’t get the footage back until recently. Cindy Beale, who held a grudge against Jasmine, stole the phone hoping to ensure Jasmine would go to prison for good.

I was totally hooked by this storyline! She did something she instantly regretted and tried to fix it by hiding the phone back at The Vic, but unfortunately, someone caught her red-handed.

Throughout the week, it looked like the video wouldn’t be enough to show Jasmine was acting in self-defense. Her grandfather, Patrick (Rudolph Walker), gave a statement that made it seem like she wasn’t telling the truth, and Kat admitted she couldn’t be certain Jasmine was being honest.

Richie Scott, Jasmine’s lawyer, advised her to plead guilty, explaining that the evidence suggested she likely wouldn’t be believed if she went to trial.

The trial reached a dramatic conclusion today. Jasmine was acquitted and allowed to go free.

While her new family in Walford was celebrating their victory, tensions remained. The Truemans didn’t fully trust her, and had taken in her twin brother, Josh Goodwin (played by Joshua Vaughan), to prevent him from having to move to Southend with his adoptive mother, Sandra (Dawn Steele).

Let me tell you, the emotional weight in this film really comes from the fractured relationship between Jasmine and Sandra. They haven’t spoken in over ten years, and the reason is devastating. Jasmine was in the car with Sandra’s husband, Keith, when he tragically died in a car accident. The film expertly hints at lingering doubts and unanswered questions surrounding that day, and it creates a palpable sense of unease and unresolved grief. It’s a complex dynamic that drives a lot of the narrative tension.

Afterward, Sandra observed that her former adopted daughter seemed distant and showed little emotion, leaving Sandra unsure if she had played a part in what happened.

Jasmine shared that she witnessed Keith’s death, and afterward, she grew distant from both Josh and Sandra. This incredibly painful experience profoundly changed her life.

Kat comforted her, saying she could move on from everything that happened before. Starting fresh with the Slater family felt right, and Jasmine was excited about the possibility of taking their last name.
