The ‘Home & Harbor Expansion’ for the game Barotrauma will be released this fall, according to publishers Daedalic Entertainment and developers FakeFish and Undertow Games.
Here is an overview of the expansion, via its Steam page:
The next big update for Barotrauma, called “Home & Harbor Expansion,” is coming soon! It will let players own, build, and manage outposts, and introduces a new, intriguing faction called The Descendants, who are sure to cause some trouble for Europa’s submarine crews.
New Feature: Outpost Ownership and Base Building
With “Home & Harbor Expansion,” you can build and manage your own underwater base, or take over bases that other players have already created!
Grow your base by building new additions. Take care of the people living there and create workshops to start production. Upgrade your base to unlock better technology through research.
Show off your creativity in Barotrauma! You’ll have tons of ways to customize your outpost and really make it feel like home. Will you build a comfortable, efficient base, or a messy, poorly maintained one?
New Faction: The Descendants
A mysterious new group, called the Descendants, is joining the world of Barotrauma. They’re technologically advanced and modify their bodies, and they use technology from another world. Along with them, players can expect a variety of new items and interesting objects to discover.
More Faction Interaction, More Story
The upcoming “Home & Harbor Expansion” will make Barotrauma’s factions more complex and engaging. Submarines traveling around the world will now affect the economies of NPC outposts. You’ll be able to trade with friendly factions, fight against hostile ones, and even send gifts – just be sure they aren’t carrying any Husk infections! Beyond player actions, these factions will also interact with each other, trading and competing for dominance, making the world of Barotrauma feel even more dynamic and alive.
The story of Barotrauma is continuing with a new update called The Descendants, which will reveal more about the secrets of Europa.
Barotrauma is available now for PC via Steam.
